Trying to put something in there would be more of a problem than solution.
Unlike the 1k, this problem on the 2500 has been contained to a pretty small % or so it seems.
Could even be a production run where the pressure on the die was incorrectly calibrated and stressed the plate when it was cut.
The 2500 is still a young product so making use of your warranty is stioll the best way to go.
There are a lot of refurbed 2500 being sold by the dealers (AMS, Zsounds, Musiciansfriend all get them from time to time), question is where they coming from?

Still seems more like a batch than all.
Hard to tell if people just see it come and go and ignore it or just never had a problem.
Maybe someone should start a poll to see how many people pads f*cked and how many didn't.
Could actually show a production based on the s/n's.

I have the same issue here after having my 2500 for 1.5 years. It looks as if we may have a trend of the pads going out after extended use. This really sucks after spending the type of money that I spent on this machine, and of course it happens after the warranty expires. This is really irritating me     !!!!!!!

Alright guys I may have solved my problem.

I removed the top cover of my MPC only to find that the pads were ever so slightly misaligned. There are 2 rubber nipples that must be inserted in the two metal slots postioned at 12 and 6 o'clock. Once I made the necessary adjustments I reassembled the MPC and when I powered it on the issue was gone. It has been 24 hours and the issues has not returned. I will keep you guy posted if the issue reappears. After veiwing the way that the pads are housed in the MPC I think it is very likely that this will occur again.

Still kept coming back on mine roughly every 6 months after each alignment.
As I previously stated it's a very minimal tolerance but seems to be enough to cause the problem.
Still can't understand why they couldn't forsee the problem based on their previous designs, but we know the old designers were no longer with Akai.
Here's the scary part had the 1k pads not failed so quickly the 2500 would probably have the same pad design as the 1k.

I had to do this twice , it's been two weeks now and it's still fine.
