busted left output...

Hey, so I just got another xl (after selling my 2k classic), but left stereo output puts out little or no signal at all. I've tried switching cables out and all that so I know it's the output. Does it just need to be cleaned? How should I clean it? Do ya think it's more than that?

Sounds obvious, but such points are always the first to be overlooked... double check your pan pots, both in the MPs mixer and on your desk (I've tried addressing these oversights by making my studio smoke-free - hasn't worked a whole lot! ). Also, try running through a couple of different channels in case the problem lies outside the MPC.

I can run my turntables fine, so it aint the mixer or the speakers. I'll check the mpcs pan though

If it's a faulty internal component then you're screwed

Cuase the only way to fix it will be to replace a few internal parts and
that will need a specialist.

what about just using the 8outs instead of stereo? Is there anything special I have to do?

just got a snake cable,a nd hooke dit up to the 8outs. I think I'll just use this instead of the stereo outs. Any big downsides to mono?

You could dummy a new stereo pair by using 2 monos and pan them to left & right.

Only downside would be losing 2 mono o/ps. That and also the rumour that the stereo o/p has higher spec DACs than the monos.

I had this problem as well.
If you're comfortable with it, you can probably fix it yourself.
Often what happens is the solder that holds the jack to the board breaks, which just means the jack is sitting there, but not connecting to the board. All you have to do is take the MPC apart, and touch a hot soldering iron to the parts that connect the jack.
Honestly, this is a total piece of cake to any trained tech, and wont run you more than an hours labor. This is by far the most common problem in any musical equipment.
