Card reader for 2000??

Is it possible to install one of these to my 2k...if it is possible id like to get some ideas on models,makes,to do's and not to do's.
This just seems like a far better storage option as apposed to using my external 250 scsi.

If you're talkin a 2000 classic and not an XL, a floppy is your only option for internal:

You can definitely get an external setup, and I'd use the site listed above should you decide to do so.

Of course, if this is all about storage, you could also go with a SCSI HD.

Given you have an MPC2000, your next best option would be an external scsi hard drive. check ebay for this option. search on akai scsi drive.

I've done it to both my 2kclassics with the pcd-47
But you need to know how to solder, and enjoy taking your MPC apart, and putting it back togeather.

Most folks do not have the skill to go into their MPC2000 and tinker around. And the thought of introducing problem(s) into a perfectly working MPC2000 could be disastrous. If you decide to go this route, take great caution. In the long run, it could expensive to fix the problem.

It would be much easier to simply connect an external hard drive to the scsi port of your MPC2000. Just format and partition the drive and you are ready to store.

But whatever you feel comfortable with . . . just run with it.

Seein as I DO have the skill/tools required (and def made that clear to the owners of a few different MPC parts websites) I'm now confused.

I've been searching since you made the post above and can't locate the mentioned thread.

I want a card reader for my 2000 classic, but until your post was under the impression it wasn't an option.

I have th einternal 3.5" drive and an external SCSI CD Drive?

Am i best off getting a Zip or Jaz drive? or an internal or external memory card reader?

And which one would i need. As cheap as possible!

Card reader would be the best choice since you don't have any physical parts that touch each other. So no wear and most safely on the road.
But finding a working card reader for a cheap price is hard these days.

Not really scsiforsampler dot com is ripping people off right now $250 for the drive.Also incase you thought this.Since you have an xl you don't have to mod anything just switch out the drive no soldering at all.That mod is only needed for the 2000 classic. You would be better off just putting in an internal atapi cardreader.

It's so easy to build one into the XL. Anyone can do it.
