in the mpc, you have to change the pad's midi notes to reflect a chromatic scheme.

why can i not get this to work???Here is my setup...

I run a USB cable from my M-audio49 to my Labtop(My midi controller is USB powerd). I also use my Tascam US-144 soundcard connected into my Labtop Via USB(also USB powerd)
I take the Midi Out of the Midi Controller and i plug that into MIDI IN on my Soundcard. Then i take the Midi In of the MPC and go to the MIDI OUT on the soundcard. I setup up reason the way it shows in the video and Nothing works. I see the signal coming in threw my soundcard but no sound?eh Any help is Appreciated...
Thanks,
Wes

Everything ive done so far is text book, i can trigger sounds from both my mpc and from my novation midi controller..
Yet when i record my midi sequence on my mpc2000...the very 1st note that is triggered is out of time??
Now i have tried waiting for a pass on the loop and doing an overdub, tried the midi clock sync option in reason too.

my midi/sync preferences in the mpc i have dicked around with...at the moment my "sync in" is set to "midi clock" and the "sync out" is "off"
I can only put it down to my midi controller..but i wouldnt think it would be that.

Is there anyone who actually uses reason 3.0 with a classic 2000 and really knows the setup or is this something all so simple ive missed, cause untill then...im just going to have to sample my keys..
cheers
Great vid all the same it got me this far!

thanks for the video sparq, real helpful. at the end you mention a follow up video about tracking out to a DAW when using reason as a module and MPC as a sequencer...how do you do it in pro tools? any help much appreciated

I'm trying to do this with my 2000, but I cant find a way to adjust the channel settings? 5a,1a? etc.......... any one know how to do this? is it possible with the 2000? Or is this a feature that is only on newer models? HELP?

On your main screen under your "track" you can change the track type from drum to midi using the data wheel, to the right of that it will say "off"
move your cursor to the right and highlight off, then scroll using you data wheel and change to the desired midi channel ..eg MIDI:1A

This does not solve my 1st out of sync note problem tho..

Thanks! I am likely to encounter the same sync problem. I'm using 3.0 also. I'll let you know if I do and if i come up with an answer.

I'm using an m-audio ozonic with a midi audio interface built in, I'm not yet having this sync proplem, But on that note are you relying on the mpc to quantize the sounds played from reason? I've had a similar problem with the timing on the first note in reason with out any midi hooked up, but this sounds different. Also I'm having trouble with the midi, if I set 1a to the nn19, for instance, record it over a drum loop i've just made on the mpc, Then I go to say the subtractor on 2a to record over both the nn19 and the mpc, it just layers that sound on to what i've just recorded instead of allowing me to make a new track? Also the sounds from the mpc sometimes play on the keyboard!? and vice versa. What can I do to separate all these sounds, their all running together?

I've had

I've tried so many times to get this to work. I have a Oxygen 8 with midi cable going OUT of the oxygen and IN to the midi port #1 on the back of the MPC.

I also have a m audio midisport uno running from MIDI OUT A and the other end of that cable is a USB input into the back of my computer.

I also have the USB cable running from the Oxygen to the computer.

I have Reason open to the Advanced Preferences. For the Bus A, I have the USB running from the Oxygen selected. Then for the MIDI Clock Sync, I have selected the MidiSport Uno from the selection box.

I set the corresponding channels in Reason and the MPC (like 5A in the video). I make the PGM in Reason OFF and select MIDI (and not DRUM). I follow it step by step and nothing.

Is there some sort of setting in the MPC I need to have for the MIDI hook up? There is PAD 9 which is the MIDI/SYNC settings for the MPC. What does that need to be set too?

Please help me. Thanks!

You should download the video and you would want the 4k`s as the sequencer controlling Reason as a Sound Module.

Do a search on the start and newbie bible you will find alot of info.
