well to start off its been a while since ive been on the forum ....i had a 2000xl...first ...i sold it because ..for me the work flow didn't work well...i didn't have the flash card...or zip drive....so i felt really limited ...so i went out and bought a used mpc 1000 ....im not sure what the going rate is at the moment ...but this one is stock ...i paid 425......BUT when i got it home it had 3 pads going...so i finally decided to do the foil pad fix...

What i used ..

1. double sided tape ..from a Window plastic kit(really thin and clear)(the ones that you put the plastic on the window and use a heat gun to shrink it )

2. Well i was all out of foil...so i rummaged through the cabinet and found . can of mixed peanuts that had foil on the lid(aluminum foil )...i found the part that had no crinkles ...BINGO

3.a toaster oven

what i did
.
..luckily in my case ...the tape was perfectly the same size on the carbon sheet ...i cut a square stuck it ti the tape and trimmed off the access ..then pealed off the other side of the tape and stuck it to the Rubber pad....(when you get inside ..everything is really self explanatory )

make sure you remove all the old glue and broken sheet

once i did that ...i turned on my toaster oven to the toast setting ....let the top get nice and HOT ....then i put the rubber pad ..with the foil side down ...on top the the toaster oven for i don't know 20 seconds (make sure you keep pressure on it ....then ...badda bang ....reassemble and start using your ...not pressure sensitive pads ....i dont care ...to me thats way better than a broken pad...still working fine for me ...thanks for reading

creating full level buttons instead of velocity pads is an act of desperation but i'll be damned if it doesn't get the job done.

props on your success. it's good that you're not afraid to tinker.
