You know what's strange? The 1000 version's release forum topic is 3 pages long already. Dropped at exactly the same time. Lots of talk of bugs and revisions...

Did you buy a 2500 just to sit there and look pretty?? Get involved!!! The JJ os is a communal effort...Do your part.

Yep. The JJ 1000 Forum is way more active and constructive. Maybe the moderator should merge them. See no big reason to keep them apart.

They were actually merged to start with. I think I even posted about wanting to split them, but I'd like to see them merged again now. I spend just as much time at the 1000 JJ forums as I do here. I'm guessing most of us do.

merging the two forums wouldnt be a good idea at all.
there's often too much redundancy in the 1k jj os forum as it is.
also, many people don't start topics with any specific subject lines.
so imagine how frustrating that would get... especially if people don't specify which model they're posting about, let alone the os version number.
i believe it's a better to keep things where they are.
there's no problem with 1k and 2.5k users posting in either forum to help one another out. so i'm glad to see that happening lately. :)

agreed
ya'll would do best by encouraging more 2500 users to make the obvious choice in os's

meanwhile i read both forums just in case i miss something i could use.

TBH, I couldn't care less whether the 2 forums are merged or not. I would just like to encourage the JJ 2500 users to take part in the development and testing of their OS.

I dont have a problem w/ the JJos.. I actually like his changes. The only change that i dont like is that he took away the direct recording feature... to me that was the best feature.. See i play my music out at different venues were i take my mpc, also i use different hardware and instuments to create my sound.. To be able to record directly was one of the selling points for me buying this MPC2500..
For instance w/ the akai direct record feature u can record on what ever channel you want and use as many channels you want. also after youve recorded you can treat the audio the same way you would any other sample, filters, effects, and resample whatever you could dream.... ITS TREATED AS JUST ANOTHER AUDIO SAMPLE..
With the JJos your much more limited.. You can only record on 8 channels. you cant add filters to the audio unless you move it to an audio channel, which is cool but, what if you didnt quantize the sounds u direct recorded..? Then youve got to fight for it to land the same and achive the same feel.
To me it almost feels like he (JJ) put this version of direct recording in to make mpc1000 users feel good. Cause remember they didnt have direct record mode under the akai Os..

Anyway thats my 2 cents ive been talking about this for a while http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php ... highlight=
and nothings been done yet... Also if you want to check my music hit me up at http://www.myspace.com/themainingredient ..
