Alright... I'm a believer...

I know when the 1K first came out I dissed it and called it a toy.
Well... My friend bought one off of Ebay for $200 because the shift button was broke. When he got it, I tore it a part to fix it for him. I was dissing him the whole time on how he should have saved up for a real MPC.
I got the shift button to work (taking it apart was a hell of alot easier than my 2KXL) and started messing around with it making sure it worked. I dl'd the JJ 3.07 OS and was really impressed with the functions it had.
Yep... I'm a believer now on how well built and great the 1K is.
Would I sell my 2KXL... Hell Naw! But If I did find a 1K for cheap I would cop it mainly for the HD, USB, increased memory, assignable outs and smaller in size.

juke- once akai releases their new pad design, the 1k will be perfect.
glad to see that you like what the 1k and jj os has to offer.
elmacaco even bought a 1k and uses it alot.
it's the perfect size to carry around and set up anywhere without taking too much space.

the last time elmac came over here, he had the 1k and the x0xb0x with him in a backpack. so within a matter of minutes, we had both 1ks and both x0xb0x's hooked up and started crankin' out some acid house jams.

the cool thing with this combo is the "input thru" feature on the 1k. so it comes in handy to chain reverb and delay for the x0xb0x (or any piece of gear for that matter).
we're due for another jam soon.

after meeting the pioneers of acid house, Phuture (spanky, professor traxx, and dj pierre) two weeks ago, we've been very inspired to say the least.

don't sleep on that bro. buy the kit ASAP.
the wating list gets longer and longer due to worldwide popularity, and some of the components are very rare. so there's no telling how long those kits will be available for. sourcing out your own components can be very time comsuming and may actually cost more as well.
there's a few of us mpc users here that have the x0xb0x (me, elmac. truvc, mr modnar, and rundfyrkant).
so if you ever need any advice, you know who to talk to.
the x0xb0x forums are very helpful as well.
spend as much time as you can preparing yourself by reading the forums, fabrication manual (print it out, it's much easier), and having all the tools for the job.

I dont have one I just did an image search. I was looking through some of the forums though and I saw that people were waiting over 3 months to get one built.

btw, the waiting list is around 3 months just to order the kit. you have to build it yourself or have someone build it for you if needed.
it's a very time consuming project to build. but if you know how to solder and be able to identify all the parts (which is extremely important), the fabrication manual is well documented and you'll be able to build it succesfully.

i've had my moments with a soldering tip that gave out on me and destroyed a transistor. but i was able to get new transistors and a better soldering tip to finish the job.

i owe a ton of thanks to elmacaco for all his advice, as well as mr modnar and truvc who have been just as helpful.
the mesage boards offer tons of important information and i'm grateful to all the members who have posted what they've learned through their own experiences.

right now i'm testing out a new firmware (which is uploadable through the USB port), and i'm really happy with all the new features that the firmware developers have coded.

this machine is incredible!
i'm so glad i built it instead of spending over $1000 for a real tb-303.
there's so much more flexability in the x0xbox with the firmware as well as the hardware modifications.
i havent modified mine yet. i may leave it the way it is. but the option is still there at any time if i ever decide to do it.
