I tried installing an CD rom I had laying around. I read the manual, and installed all the cables properly. But the CD rom does not show up in the "disk" list when i go to the load page, even when I hit the F4 [update] the mpc 4000 does not find it.

Is there something special that i Have to do, I think the problem may be my jumper settings, I also have a hard drive installed and the manual said that the HD must be set to master and the 2nd drive set to slave. Well I set the CD rom to slave, but I forgot how to set the jumpers on the back of my HD to master. Could this be the problem??

if it was a new hd and cd-rom...the jumpers should have been set to cable select from the factory and you shouldn't have had to mess wit em. Make sure that the CD-ROM is connected to the middle connector on the cable, although with where it's located you have to have skillz to connect the middle connector all the way to the hard drive.

some drives come set as master if u look on the exposed pcb above the jumpers it will be labeled so look close
