how would i run a software synth from my computer to an external mixer and then back into the computer for recording?....and also ...should i have an upgraded soundcard to run a software synth like this ....i couldnt find this anywhere ....thanks for any help


and also when you are running a soft synth even using rewire ....how would you make your mpc and soft synth run together as far as monitoring

Check it out...this is what my soundcard(s) look like (I use 2): Layla24. When a softsynth plays through your daw program or in stand-a-lone mode, the sound you hear is of course digital. If this is routed/bussed to any of the analog outputs, it can then be sent to your mixer for monitoring. But on the other hand if you want to record this for a mix or whatever, bussing this out via digital on coax/optical is your best bet. It just sounds better. :D

Why bother tracking out from computer and back to it, when you can use midi tracks ? I mean, if it's just to eq through the standalone mixer, I personally wouldn't bother this much.

Well it does'nt quite work like that. If you've used vsti's before you should know how they work. Personally myself, I use both. I run a rack of modules & vsti's at the same time. Why settle for half of the deal when you can get it all. :D
