MPC AND MY TURNTABLE

i have a Stanton STR-8 20 turntable,how do i hook it up to my MPC3000 so that it plays in stereo?the turntable has rca audio (red and white)jacks coming out of it, along with a ground wire.obviously the mpc doesnt have rca inputs.so i bought an adapter that recieves 1 red and 1 white audio and converts it to a 1/4inch male.I then put that 1/4 inch jack in the "record in" (left) slot.i get audio,just not stereo sound.any help?

To get stereo you must have an adapter on both the red and the white cable.

But if the turntable don't have a built in RIAA amplifier you'll have to buy a stand alone RIAA amplifier box. If not you will get thin and wrong sound from your vinyl, because they remove a lot of frequences on vinyl and add the same amount of frequences in a RIAA box. You can get those at any store that sells Hi-Fi turntables. (you may also use a DJ mixer or a home stereo with Phono input, but you will get the best sound for minimum costs with the little amplifier box)

You can get a cable Rca-Jack to connect between your RIAA box and you 3000's input. Get yourself some good cables from the turntable as well, if its user changeable, because you want the best signals possible. Remember that you will never get better sound than you set-up's weakest part! And most of those thin phono cables are cheap lo quality cables.

let me ask u one other thing,if i get a really good mixer(not a d.j. mixer).but a really good one.like a 12 channel mixer (high end)will i need the phono box still? or can i use the mixer by itself? or do i need both of them?

The mixer must have a built in phono preamp, no matter how expensive. Without RIAA amplifier you'll get thin wrong stupid sound.

please explain how you did that.

buy a small ground post. drill a hole in the back of the mp. bolt up the grounding post. run a cable from the grounding post to the top right hand side where the gound wire is bolted to the mp. finished.

But if you get a RIAA box, it most likely has a ground post, and you won't have to mod (and that way drop the value slightly on) your MP like that.

can u recomend a brand thats good and a model number?

get u a stanton SMX-201 dj mixer its cheap, and good quality, has 2 band eq per channel, swithcable preamp-can use each channel for 2 sources 1- Turntable 1-tape deck,cd/dvd player/TV-sat-cable box-8 track, etc, etc,.... with a swithc so u can have 4 seperate sources, plus its got its own Mic input w/ preamp plus 2 band eq... Basically any DJ mixer with Phono input has an RIAA preamp.....if its got a phono input with a ground screw u should be straight...Holla back if u need anymore help...Peace
