Is there an mpc that is soild??

get the 3k. old school solid mpc. there pretty cheap so if u need some effects just get a rack unit er 2

I got a brand new 2000xl MCD, the OS has never been buggy (some of the processes are slow as a mutha though) and the build quality is equal to that of the MV-8000 and a little better than an ASr X Pro. just my 2 cents.

No comparison.
The Ultras are heavy weights but the 4k has way too much going on for that setup to cover that much ground.
Just far too much control capabilities absent.

this thread got my interest after the e-mu ultra post,

i had a 2000xl and a 1000 before, but sold them both when I was short on cash.

now I am deciding either to get another 2000xl to go with the e-mu e5000 ultra i have, or just go with the mpc 4000...

I think I have to find a 4000 somewhere to play around with, as that is the only machine in the equation I have no experience with.

3000 is extra solid!!!!!!! 4k is too. Never seen a 60 in person. The rest is ..........

No Diss - Real talk... if you are worried about build quality, because you had problems before, than maybe it's related to how you were treating the machine. Your MPC is an investment that you make for your music... you should probably look into getting a good road case if you perform live or take it back and forth places. I see a lot of dudes spilling beer, butting cigarettes and even dropping their MPC's and they are still working... maybe your last one had a defect or was used (by the beer & cigarette guy). All of the MPC's are pretty rugged... some more than others... but, bottom line - buy the one that is most in tune with your outlook on music. If you get stuck, think of your 5 favaorite producers... what do they use? If the majority use the same MPC model, you have your answer... If none of them even use MPC's, then maybe yout ought to re-consider whether you really want one. If all of the MPC models are going to make you distressed, then why even get one... you'd be better off spending the money on Yoga. Good luck!

Dude, please dont flip to the MV, I hated my 8000. i dont see the point of a sampler and using it to sample, play out your drums, but because everything is so clean and flat sounding, you have to eq it all to give it a sound.

my proudest moment was when I got back from the 2hr drive down to VA and back, with the trusty 2xl in hand now, playing that first kick, and just the knock it had.

some ppl say its a fable, a falsehood or prejidice belief, but I tried and just didnt like the taste of what roland was feeding.

another side not, is the guy at GC who has an MV8000 told me when I was first looking at getting it, yea I love this machine here, but it is flat compared to an MPC.........i should have listened

My blue 2000 XL MCD is very solid in construction, no rattles, no noises, just damn solid. Though i bet some XL's have left the factory a little fragile, as any other mpc (including some of the 2500's i bought).

With Numark/Alesis/Akai products (or just Numark) you cannot expect a 100% flawless unit. If it works - keep it and use it. Sometimes the mpc pads double trigger, or the knobs are a little loose on a given unit, or the Microns keyboard is wobbly, but the ion's one is not...or....But we still go and buy them and use them, and they allow for great things when used with care.
