RE: Recording a loop to a single track

hey whats goin on folks....
Long time lurker, finally decided to take the plunge and officially join up after weeks of looking through old threads for various pieces of advice.

anyhow, I'm having trouble recording a loop to a track.
for instance, I'll sample a drum pattern, trim it, and once it loops up just how I want it, I'll then go ahead and assign it to a pad. I then set the number of bars that I want to record in the sequence screen (in this case 1 bar) and I proceed to record.
Everything seems to go well, but in playback I notice that part of the loop gets cut off (usually the last down beat or kick), and things get totally thrown off.

What am I doing wrong here?

well, you can start by adding more bars to the sequence.....the only time i've used 1 bar in a sequence was if i was doing a little short intro before the beat kicks in. the least I would use in a sequence is 4 bars, man. this is just me though, but i dont know of a loop that plays for 1 bar and loops back. i could be wrong....

It sounds like the BPM of your sequence is faster than the BPM of your drum loop.... slow your sequence down.

I'll take a look at the tempo setting.

what your doin is pretty basic at the moment... the mpc has so much more to offer... have fun but in time you might want to try this..

once you have your loop chopped to how you want it on the trim screen click edit and discard.. this will not erase what you have selected but everything outside of that.....

once you have your clean loop showing there shud be a feature at the bottom of the screen called zone.. click it... you'll then see on the right hand side on the end adjust a 1 or 16 go over to it and flick thru, you will see it highlights a section 1 16th of the sample length... it shud be roughly in time if you originally chopped the loop perfect...

click edit and slice sound.. you with now have the sample over 16 pads to mess around with til your hearts content so start bangin... theres plently more to do but thas a start to openin up your creativity.

to see what i mean go on google video and check boon doc... dudes amazing.

thanks for the info, but I'm already aware of the slicing capabilities...
just wanted to experiment and try it out in the way that I described in the original post.
