Advice on which 1000 to buy?

Is there any difference between the older brown/blue MPC1000's and the newer black ones?

I've found a couple of 1000's on Craiigslist where I live - but the black models seem to be going for about $150 more.... is this just because they're newer, or is there a difference inside?

as well: what extras are essential for this machine? RAM, Flash card, etc...

Ive heard theres no difference, besides the black one is then newest model

ram. 128 mbs, max out for the best usage. and im running a 1 gig flash card that i got for 20 bucks from radio shack

yeah i hear theres no difference but i just love the black one a lot more.

u can actually buy the blue one, buy a black case and put it on, for cheaper than the 150$ extra

what exactly is "the pad fix"?

ok, after trolling around through some other threads on this forum, I have gathered that the factory-issued pads have some problems with "wearing out"? is this correct?

i would appreciate if someone could give a simple, concise breakdown of what is wrong with the pads on the 1000, and whether this prob should be a dealbreaker..?

i have a used brown/blue MPC1000 that I would like to buy - but I don't really want some bum pads either. Is there a way to figure out whether individual units have problems with the pads - or is it "wear" issue through heavy use?

Are Akai likly to start issuing mpc with the new pad fix ?

Does the 1000 allow you to change pad sensitivity like the 500 ?

no difference at all. akai are doing a pad fix in a few months, it's official but i don't know how its gunna work out.

yes you can change the sensitivity - you can do anything the mpc 500 can do but better with more stuff /w the jjos.

the brown one is racist against the black one
