anyone know how to do this? i can do pro tools the master and the mpc the slave for recording, i'd like to do it the other way around. i havent been able to get this to work. i'd like to use pro tools like a sampler...just set a loop in pro tools and be able to press play on the mpc and have the two synch, then i could program on top of the sample i have looped in pro tools. anyone know how to do this?

thanks for the responses!! strange what itchyvinyl was saying...i havent noticed swing functions not working on the mpc when using pro tools as the master and sending the mpc midi beat clock. anyway, cooocoo what do you mean in your post when you said "select the midi device in PT"? where do you do that? also, does PT just slave when recording or playback too?

i provided a detailed answer/ tutorial to this recurring question only recently. it was also added to the NEWBIE BIBLE.

just because some guys cannot manage to sync PT and the 4000 it doesnt qualify them to advise others that PT will not slave to the 4000. IT WILL.

You have to set the mpc to send out mtc.
And let it receive MMC
Set the protools to send MMC.
Check the framerate of both mpc and protools.
(They have to be the same)
then put the protools in sync ready (the clock on transportbar)
Put it on Record (with your tracks ready offcourse)
then set the transport of protools on MMC and hit space.
The mpc starts and sends out MTC to the computer and that starts the computer.
If you wanna know why I do it like this. PM me 8)

when i've tried the mpc as slave in the past, ive had phasing issues when i recorded my samples to pro tools...maybe its because the frame rates were different. will pro tools slave in playback mode too, or just record mode? im gonna try this shit when i get home
