Pad mode: you can assign different functions to your pads (other than their original functions), like say, put tap tempo on pad 6. Or Bank B on pad 11, etc....

I use tap tempo all the time, well at least when i'm writing beats and not chopping loops. I really like being able to set down with a beat in my head, start playing it on the pads until i get something I like, then tap tempo and record it in. Very quick and simple.

am i the only one who is NOT happy that he removed this?

P.Mode is very useful. the tap tempo part i could live without, since there is already a button dedicated to that. no big deal.

but now we have lost the ability to move around within a sequence via the pads. this was a great feature for live use. you could program in different variations within your sequence, and then jump all around within it using the pads. you could totally improvise a new beat on the fly, change the time signature, change the whole feel of the rhythm, & get all sorts of funky effects just by playing the pads. now that is gone.

i thought we were mostly in agreement on what we thought we could live without: splashscreens, real-time pitch shift on the input, and old program mode. that's alot of stuff he could pull out. instead he removes this useful feature & is now starting to reduce the functionality of the os. not cool. :(

Me too I almost pissed myself, I thought old program mode was gone. I know nym wants it gone but I just cannot use my mpc without old program mode. I'm just too used to it. Plus I just like the layout of old program mode. there are some really useful features of the new program mode though, like being able to change entire programs from mono to poly, or being able to change a bunch of stuff at once.

I never messed around with pad mode so I can't say I'll miss it. I hope though that we can still access the old OS's on the website if say we download a new one and dont like it.

You could always choose not to update.

I'm going to sit on the previous version for awhile, because I feel there is going to be some major re-working going on, and I want to wait till that settles before I update again.

Have you tried Next Seq mode? Button in the upper righthand corner of your MPC? Changes seq's via pads. I use that quite a bit.

im having some significant trouble, some sequences freeze up the mpc,
not much to cause trouble in there, it happens even when all but one track is muted, and the playing track only has 3 events in 8 bars!....cant suss it tho' cos some other sequences in the same project/all file are playing without fault. yet no problems using 484 os, as i only updated an hour ago, after using 484 for a few days fine.

any similair issues....i know its hazy cos i'm still trying to crack the bugs im having....more info later i expect.

woah!, the sequencers freezing even when ALL tracks in a sequence are muted!.....dunno whats wrong in here but they run beautifully in 484.

and by the looks of it, you guys are freakin out about those removed bits. p.mode*/ tap tempo etc....am stayng with 484 for now to do any purposefull work...otherwise its beta-land in 485 - just gonna test it loads befoore saving any work in it

JJ wassuuurp! hope u know what u r doing!!

PS : * am i right in assuming u mean pad mode when u say p.mode?
cos i thought u meant old program mode. its still there on my os 485.

Thats what happens when cool features like p mode get removed.

hey can someone verify this please.

as mentioned above, my mpc is seizing up asif ive massively overloaded the sequencers realtime playback engine, i mean that its behaving as though its got many more events to play than are actually there. it plays them in os484 fine, but 485 has real problems coping with the sequences.

ive got a sequence running, only a few tracks. a few events in each.
and when i mute them all, the 'voice(polophony) counter' - in Other Page (mode+pad10) clocks up to way over 20!. with nothing actually playing.

i'm assuming that the voice counter isnt supposed to count voice use when no voices are 'used' right?

i don't have this. everything ok here... try reinstalling the os or delete the tracks instead of muting them, to see whats wrong.

I couldn't live without it. I always tap my tempo out before I start recording something

it's useful when you play with true players to...
if the song begin the mpc, they will sync on your beat...
if they start and then arrive with your mpc...
tap the tempo first and hit the play button...
