Song Structure Techniques

What's your secret to contructing a track - I don't mean smoking hella weed and seeing what happens - I mean something like this -

I start by rendering some loops / fx's / bass's etc in Reason -

Bounce those down to wave files -

load those up into the 1000 - construct a song

track the bad boy into Pro-Tools - mix and master

then I smoke hella weed and try and get dj's to play my sh**

sometimes it works other times it don't -

this does not make sense, why import your samples from reason into your mpc when pro-tools has rewire?

I hate sequencing on the computer - drawing boxes on the computer just doesn't move me - plus I have one of those computers that's bolted to the ground (I.E. Desktop) where as I can take my 1000 out of my studio and sequence on my couch or across the street to my buddies or in the bathroom etc

Plus the MPC has a swing to it that I can hear where my computer doesn't

don't get me wrong - I write tracks on my computer but it's just cooler on my MPC - it's like dating a black girl and a white girl at the same time (what kind of mood am I in today)

ok, when you go out to your boy crib where do you keep your samples(reason exports/just asking wave files are pretty large)?

when you sequence on reason are you not doing the box thingy?

Compact flash - I'm only rendering 1 or 2 bar loops - those CF cards can hold up to a gig

I'm not carrying around 7 minutes wave loops now -

Reason is a really dope program to just sit down and come up with crazy sounds - and yeah, rewired to Logic is the bomb...it's just my preference to keep my distance from my computer - I tend to just look at naked chicks and write on message boards
