Newbie Simple Questions !! Help !

sup evyone , basically i have a few questions that need answering. they may sound really stupid questions to ya'll so bare with me ..

1. I've made a beat on the mpc and i want to transfer it to my computer , how would i go around doing this ? , would i record it or something ?

2. I've Made the skelton of a beat (just the basics) and i want to somehow put it into reason so i can add bass and keys etc . How would i do this ? .. Reason does import Midi.

3. Is Thier anyway of using the mpc1k with reason ? so i can program it to the drums and etc ..

A very simple way of doing it is like this:
stereo out from your MPC1000 > mixer if you have one > computer audio card to capture the sound. If you don't have a mixer then go straight into your computer audio card (with proper connections of course.) I don't know what kind of setup you have so it's not always easy to recommend something. Most people also tend to use the mono individual outs from the MPC in order to have control of the sounds (i.e. kick, hihat, snare & perc can be compressed, eq'ed, etc. separately if you use the individual outs.) Does this make sense?

your aware midi is not sound it is only controll infomation, so if you where to import the midi for what you made into reason you would need to set all the samples into say redrum and wire it up (tab on reason) accordingly. When you save in your 1k save Entire memory it will save the midi controll infomation which you can then import after linking your MPC to your PC/Mac Via USB Via the Load Menu on your 1k

Edit: to correct the above you need to do save Seq save as Mid not Save entire, Sorry for any confusion.

alternativly you could record what you made from your 1k into ur comp Via the first answer and load the Wav into NN-xt and trigger the loop with a midi key, or if you have recycle convert the file to REX format and use the rex player.

i belive you can use the 1k with reason as a midi drum controller, however it will not work Via a usb like MPD16 or 24 you will need to route a midi out of your 1k into you Sound card, best look into that first tho not 100% it works wih Reason.

p.s i saved 'entire memory' but when i loaded it on ma computer it was not recorgnized as a midi file ..

Go straight into your soundcard. MPC1000 main stereo outs into the stereo input of your soudcard. You have no other choice. This is not about MIDI anymore, you just need to capture the audio signal so you can mess with it in your computer. Try it.

As for the "skeleton" beat... Capture the loops then using the above method, then use Recycle to convert the .wav files to .rex or .aif format to
play in Reason's Dr Rex Loop Player. Afterwards you can build in the
track in Reason.

What kind of input connections does your computer audio card have? 1/4 inch... RCA... S/PDIF? These are all different kind of input connections (female) that require the appropriate corresponding tip (male). The receiving end is called female and the cable tip you plug into it is called male. Biology 101

So we know the MPC1000 is 1/4 inch out. You need two cables, one for the left and one for the right (to make a stereo signal, right?) I presume your computer audio card has 1/4 inch inputs too, this is almost certain, so you will need two (2) 6-foot cables, 1/4 inch to 1/4 inch. Is 6 feet enough, I don't know, you be the judge.

You can get these at your local music shop.
