MM6 and MPC 1000 w/ JJ OS + 88 key Midi controller

Any one using this combo? I'm having trouble finding the screen to access the midi channels on the MM6. I want to use the MPC as the Master and Seq on it.

dunno if this is the proper way but i just select a channel on the mpc - 1a for example, then change to the sound you want on the mm6

then on another track select 2a and change to the sound you want on the mm6. and so on

That is my goal to do as you just suggested, but my main problem is that no matter if I hook up a midi or trigger sounds on the MM6 with my MPC pads, the only sounds that seem to get played are the GM sounds. I've tried almost everything. A guy @ Guitar Center told me that something was sending Program Change messages to the MM6. So I turned off PC on my MP and routed my 88 key Midi controller to my MPC midi in, and the Midi out of my MPC to the Midi in on the MM6 so the MP could filter the PC (program changes). I got the same result.
The only thing that changed is today on Midi channel 1A I got the MP and my midi controller to play a Harmonica sound that I didn't want. Then I got channel 1A to play the GM standard drum kit, which I didn't want it to play that either.
I don't know much about MSB and LSB, but if that has anything to do with it than someone please let me know.

dont have mm6 cuz I use motif.

but on the motif if I selected track 1 then on mpc that corresponds to 1A. track 2 is 2a and so on.

just try with the mpc and mm6 and do exactly what i said, works for me

I tried everything dudes. I went to a Guitar Cneter lastnight thinking it was my MP that has the prob. They didn't really tell me anything that I didn't already know. But I went home and did another experiment and now I know for sure that its the MM6 acting up, not the MP or my ohter Midi controller.
So today I'm gonna go find out if its just my MM6 or all of them by connecting a midi controller to their MM6. I'm gonna have them help me with this in their store, so they don't think I'm crazy (and so I know I'm not crazy cause this thing has stressed me to the point of extreme nausea, FOR REAL!)

I think the responses are geared more toward hooking midi up through a workstation keyboard.I know its easy for me to midi up my 1k with the triton or fantom using the same track sequencer layout in the keyboard(mpc midi tracks 1A-16A to keyboard's sequencer tracks 1-16).I know the mini mo is not setup like this because it doesn't have workstation sequencer built in.It ships with cubase and you have to sequence it in there.Thats the reason that stopped me from buying one when it dropped.I debated over it too because to get a bunch of motif sounds for that price was a bangin deal....Check out the cats over in the mini mo forum on motifator.They should be able to help out.Good luck.

Hey, I have an MPC-1000 and I had the same problem. You have to use the Sound Bank of your MM6 in the back of your manual to assign them to the designated track of the MPC. What you do is, on your MPC go to track 1 and then move the cursor to where it would say SEQ, the hit window the Select yes on Program change. Enter the LSB-MSB# and the PC#of the sound you want. You do that for every track, for instance When laying down Piano, 1A, Strings 2B, Horns 3A, etc. As far as sampling just plug the outs in your ins of the MPC and do the 16 level thing. I hope this helps.

Thanx a lot juxstaman! I'm gonna go try that! Thanx sooo much! I went to Guitar Center and they had the same prob with their MM6. We plugged the MM6 into the MO6 and the sounds on the MO6 played just fine. Plugged the MO6 out to the MM6 IN and only GM. See, cause even with what you found bein' the answer, what about when I want to use the 88 key midi controller without goin' through my MP? Then its back to the GM midi piano.

What don't you understand? Look in the back of your manual and find the PC, MSB, and LSB of the Voice that you're playing on your MM6 and program it into the MPC and now you can use the MPC as a sequencer and midi trigger pads. Tirn off the Local switch on your keyboard and hook up the MM6 Midi out to the MPC Midi IN and you're rocking!
