Hey, you can't overdub while triggering sequences in the next sequence screen can you?

Example: you have 5 sequences set up in there and you hit record. then you start hitting/ triggering sequences at all different times, then hit stop and boom, you have a new sequence.

No can do right?

Any sort of cheat for this I'm missing. The pertinent thing here is REALTIME recording (midi) of a next sequence performance, but able to be edited later.

Not in Next Seq mode.

thats possible, but the mpc won't record it.

king: could you just use your daw to accomplish this?

i recall somewhere that the mpc can receive midi messages to change sequence......and i know that in 'immediate play' (next seq mode) can switch on the fly, it would be ace if the messages could be sent from a local controller to the mpc, and the mpc responds on the fly to (using the next seq mode)....then mbe a midi sequencer could record the midi messages, and play them back just as u recorded them = making custom sequence switches that are saved.but just woke up, so i aint tried this yet, mbe ill let u know if it works.

or you could try recording the appropriate program changes into a sequence,
( this to be used as simult sequence on EVERY other sequence - say#099), so that when its run beside any sequence, its firing the prog changes simultaneously, just make sure the pc's are on a midi chanl routed to portB, then cable B out - to B in, and the changes switch the sequences on the fly.

i know its not the exact required solution, but its a good tool.

Another reason to bring back Pmode with more features....ie:

if JJ reloaded an enhanced PadMode to the OS,*** it could have "insert PC & Slider" option assigned to a pad, using the sliders to scroll thru' PC 1-127#, as the dedicated pad(=PC insert) is hit, a PC of the slider's value gets recorded into a seq.

Couldn't JJ just put that in Slider Mode without bringing back P Mode?

Of course. I could use my DAW instead of a lot of other functions but I consider the mpc's main roll is to be a sequencer. I would prefer this method over song mode for sure.

That's a really good idea.

Allow me to sprinkle you... P mode allows you realtime nudge and offset ( in DAW terms) functions. Yes, the dedicated locate, step and bar transport buttons (on the 25k) allow you to do this, but the pad assignment gives a more tactile feel. Plus I noticed some latency when trying to use them in reatime. The P mode just gives you some beat manipulation options often found in programs like ableton, fruity loops, trackers, etc.

Other dude could probably explain this better, but...
