The HDM-10 kit is just a mount for your HD. You screw your HD onto it and then slide it in your MPC. You can't put an HD in the MPC without it.
The MPC USB port is 1.1, so it can only transfer data @ 12 mg per second. And enclosure is basically a shell that you put your HD in (after you take it out of your MP). There is a lil mount for it in the enclosure too. You attach it and slide it into the enclosure. the enclosure is like an external HD except no HD inside cause you put your HD in there, so its kinda like a External HD shell. BUT, it provides USB 2.0 (which transfers data @ 480 mb per second, sooooo much faster than USB 1.1!). So, if you have some GBs to transfer to your HD (GBs are roughly about 1200 MB I think) you can wait about a min per GB with 2.0 or wait a couple hrs for a couple GBs to transfer with 1.1 (which your MP has in the back for your CF and HD to use to transfer).
Now, if you're transfering something that is some kb, than you can use the 1.1 on the MP, but if your getting a library of samples from your homie, you take your MP out and put it in your enclosure and make the transfer faster.
