I just installed a Fujutsu 80gig
So I take my 512 flash card, load it to my mac, rearrange all my samples into about 6 different main folders while leaving programs and Sequences out. Things now look organized and are easy to navigate.. Once I finish this I boot up my MPC and and transfer all the data from my computer to the hard drive. It shows up great, everything works... seemingly! When I go to load a Program (with samples) it doesnt say loading, it looks all screwy but then finishes and looks like it worked. I go back to the Main screen and about 25% of my samples are in that program/kit... is it only reading from certain folders? Thanks in advance... hope someone can help!
3.06 OS...

Small note.. If I go in and manually load the files that didnt come up for that specific 'program (w/samples) load' it comes up fine in the long run, but having to search through tons of files is not cool! Also, after I loaded my program samples manually i resaved it to the hard drive, shut it down... and when I boot it back up... same thing happens.

Hmm i guess it would be because the project file remebers the old locations?

Yeah I spent a little bit of time last night trying to work around it but so far the only way I see to fix it is undoing all my files I made or remaking all the programs.. neither seem like fun tasks!

Update...
I reformatted my hard drive, and reloaded all samples straight up on the hard disk with no file system and my programs work again. Im curious how some some of you use file systems or if anyone has encountered this type of problem... OS issue maybe?

When I reloaded my files It also only loaded up to "N" alphabetically... the 2nd half of all my sounds dont show up on the mpc, but on the hard drive viewed via USB on the computer... they're there. ANNNND! When I get to my "N" files towards the bottom there is the play and do it.. like all of us know, i hit play and it doesnt play the sample, I try "do it" and it says "WRONG FILE"

I save all my beats as Project files. The only time I save individual programs in a separate file is when I make a program but the beat ends up sucking. If the program is dope, I'll save just the program. But besides that, all project files. And all my project files (beats) get their own folder. And I have a separate folder in my project file folder for updates. When I make a change to a beat, I save as All songs&Seqs and name it by the date so you can listen to the progress and changes that you have made over time to your beat (another Nym idea).

Yeah I'll try something like that. I took away all my "mac based files" maybe if I make files within the mpc it will work out better, that can be pretty time consuming though compared to doing it on a computer. Its just alot of files to scroll though :) I havent even filled a gig yet! Thanks for the tip ...

As far as scrolling through sounds... if youve got thousands of sounds and samples, is there an easier way to scroll? I liked this folders idea but it just doesnt seem to be compatible with programs.

Man, its never ending, I have the worst luck! So I loaded all my sequences and programs for a project I was working on. I go to SAVE, ENTIRE MEMORY, HARD DRIVE, NEW FILE:

When I click new file thats it, it freezes up and does nothing. Ive done 3 cold shut offs and restarts in a row. Anyone know whats up? Im really beginning to hate this thing. Ah scratch that, the new file screen DID come up after a while but any name I choose for a new file says "folder name exsists" when I have nooo folders...

So maybe its the hard drive who knows.
No one with similar problems hmm?

Maybe I'll rephrase and put this in another section..

HEY FEEDPHIILIPNOW, HOW DO YOU TRANSFER BEATS TO YOUR MAC????

By feedphillipnow Mon Sep 24, 2007 5:47 am
Like, how do you transfer the files? I just plug in a USB cable and the MPC comes right up on the desktop, you can turn the data wheel and it will change between hard drive (if ones installed) internal, and a CF card, then I think you hit mount and it pops right up... drag and drop files. I love it. I couldnt get that hard drive to work right though... I ended up assuming it was the drive I used but it wouldnt make new files. So I took it back and just bought a 2gig CF card... that'll last a while I suppose.
