you can't "learn how to dig" on the internet.

it's got to be in your heart and if you askin how then i dont think it's in your heart.

you need to decide whether you want to dig for RECORS/VINYL or you want to dig for samples from mp3. i'm not sayin that you cant do both ,but we usually get one or the other asked here and your just asking how to DIG.... you neeed to got out to a recorrd store and look at the records.

if your under 20 you really need to study up on older music, MUSIC that your parents may have listen to, try to ask your grand parents if they have any records they can let you listen to, have an open mind dont get stuck on just one genre of music there so much music out there, if your goin to make beats i advise you to listen to other music then Rap music.

good luck to you .

WARNING
if you catch the diggin bug beware, it's very addicting

check out some of the links on my links page

first off. let me just say i did not ask "who should i sample", "give me some dope breaks", "who are some good jazz players to sample", "what size vinyl should i use" etc etc.

i will research those answers myself, and through the process, gain some more musical knowledge. i understand this.

what i did ask was, "can some of yall who have been doing this for years please link me to any kind of site on the world wide web that has anything to do with hiphop/vinyl/sampling."

now is this too much to ask... should i go "research" (as many super producing pros would recommend) or could yall take 5 seconds and type www.dkfhdk.com and get on with your day?

also, thanks ede, ill check out your yahoo group

The whole point is you can't learn on a website.

Also, you said **** cratezors. haha that's really **** stupid.

I mean your post said "i want to learn to dig in teh cratezors". Do what I did, **** DIG IN THE CRATES! Go find a store with records, these records will most likely be in a crate, but beware, this crate could be a shelf, or a box. Regardless, you flip through, or "dig" through that until you find that funky shit with a dope cover then you go home and listen to the whole thing and find samples. If it's a dope record make a note of the year, label, producer, musicians, etc. and look for more shit by the same people.

no you didn't. what you said was, "link me to the cool sites. ive seen some mentioned around here but i forgot and cant seem to find them again.

funny how you mis-quote yourself.

basically, ill tell it to in third grade style. if your teacher told your retarted ass to find the main idea of the sentance(s) of the two statements you quoted me on, what would the main idea be? hint: its bolded hint again: they both mean pretty much the same thing. damn, all this for asking someone to post like 10 letters, but nevermind, i found my shit and im actually diggin tomoro for the first time and ive got some artists on my mind. so, w/e
