Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
By Epidemik Wed Apr 28, 2004 12:35 am
Sup guys, glad I found this site, considering my MPC could possibly arrive in a couple of weeks... Was looking for a good resource place to browse & chat about the almighty 4K... I found this person selling his MPC for $1500, he is offering Paypal & money order options for payment, but there is plenty of fraudulant activities being commited... I wanted to ask what questions I could ask to ensure his proof of ownership before I send my hard earned cash... Any help would be highly appreciative, thanks for reading...

double check this but i think that payapl offers fraud protection. just use ebay checkout w/ the paypal link and you should be safe. if you are still hesitant ask for a photo w/ todays newspaper and the mpc for verification..

See if he will accept a cashiers check COD. Then you are both protected.

Thanks for the response... I asked for additional photos & unit serial numbers, but he couldn't provide either, stating he didn't have a digital camera & wasn't going to provide the numbers for security reasons - Of course this was asked during the auction... I'm guessing the unit could be stolen or something because it was a quick deal on Ebay, only asked for $1700 at "Buy it Now" but only reached $1575 at closing... I'll contact Paypal and discuss this further... Later

escrow.com or some service like that protects you.

Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1

The guy had some shady deals in the past, he could be legit, just couldn't provide me with any proof of ownership besides his word... I did speak to him over the phone, but he couldn't answer any questions about the item being it was already boxed up...

ok here is what you do get his address and a phone number to that address. See if the two match up via 411. if you have a solid address and phone match if he doesnt want to give you the address then fukkum
