the pad rumors still scare me but i havent actually found anyone who has had that issue. but i think i will just jump in and grab the 1000 it has everything i need and then some. i just wish it sounded gritty like the 3000. i dont need a portable mpc i just want the sequencer and to use it for drums im excited

No doubt. I've heard about the sound difference between the 3000 and other models but I haven't heard it. I'll leave it up to the mixing process to shape my sound anyway.
But the seq is dope, especially with the JJ OS!
I haven't had any problems with my pads, but I use Velocity setting on my Q-link sliders a lot so I don't have to bang my pads (but I do when I get excited!)

You're in for a real treat!

The MPC USB port is 1.1, so it can only transfer data @ 12 mg per second. And enclosure is basically a shell that you put your HD in (after you take it out of your MP). There is a lil mount for it in the enclosure too. You attach it and slide it into the enclosure. the enclosure is like an external HD except no HD inside cause you put your HD in there, so its kinda like a External HD shell. BUT, it provides USB 2.0 (which transfers data @ 480 mb per second, sooooo much faster than USB 1.1!). So, if you have some GBs to transfer to your HD (GBs are roughly about 1200 MB I think) you can wait about a min per GB with 2.0 or wait a couple hrs for a couple GBs to transfer with 1.1 (which your MP has in the back for your CF and HD to use to transfer).

I understand the specs and speed diff between 1.1 and 2.0 but I am confused on how you are using your ext case.

are you taking out the HD of the MPC , putting it in your external case and then connecting that case to your PC to transfer your samples over? That way it's faster than using the transfer from the PC to the MPC.

If so, then it makes sense. or you might be able to save a step and have a little more versatility with this adapter, it's what I use for imaging drives or pulling data from them quickly.

yeah, I'm taking it out and putting it in the enclosure for the speed of 2.0.

That thing is cool. I saw it @ Fry's when I was buying my enclosure. I was gonna buy it but I went for the enclosure instead. good look though. Maybe I'll buy it anyway and then choose between the 2.

its a grittier sound on the 3000 when u sample at the lower sample rates. i like the sound itself but i like the options the 1000 offers i wish i could add a flip screen to it thats really the only reason id consider the 2500 hell i could do what i gotta do on the 2000 classic if i really wanted to. whats so great about the jj os what does it add that the 1000 cant do alone i keep hearing all of the extra options for the 2500 but really i just want to chop drums and sequence my keyboards

Word. The lower sample rates, I understand.
You could get a laptop stand for the tilt of the screen.
The JJ OS would take forever for me to brake down all the improvements, so here's the site

You can get an idea there. And then just go to the Akai site and compare.

Word. But to be honest, I heard it doesn't give the desired sound. So, I guess don't expect it to sound like a dedicated sampler conversion.
