They pop up on ebay every now and then. I am trying to sell a maxed out SE3 on there right now... if it doesn't go for the price I want, I will probably be selling the flash ROM along with the other expansions.

is there any particular reason why you want 1? because it's unnecessarily/ impratically expensive, unless you've got money to blow on it like that.

Tired of the 1.44 Floppy and the ZIP drive giving me issues when loading the OS at startup. I want to get rid of the ZIP drive and connect a rackmount SCSI hard drive and just run the OS off the FLASH ROM board for less headache. I know I could run the OS from the rackmount hard drive, but I want the convenience of the ROM board for when I go mobile with the unit to other studios...
Or maybe what you're saying makes more sense now and I'll just run the OS off the rackmount HD and keep the ZIP drive with the OS for when I go mobile...thanks for your insight : ) hehe!

There are lots of reasons, and they are a lot cheaper now, esp used. Main ones are;
-its the only way to get 40MB
-sounds are permanently stored even after power off
-key for live performances where power could go out
-with autoload, your mpc is playing sounds in a few seconds instead of minutes
But right, most people don't NEED it, just a nice option.
