recording cuts over beats, resampling output w/ track mute!

HELP ME please. i have asked these questions many times before but no one seems to help me. people say you can do both but i never see how. i have the new OS 4.8 for my 1000. So what i want to do is record my own beats u know for a few minutes or whatever but when i record them i want to be able to use track mute so i can build them mess with em u know so its not everything for 2 minutes. i want to knowif you can do this on the mpc or if iu need to record it into something else. i have heard you can do it with the mp and then i could just dump it onto my comp or somethign to burn the final product onto a cd for my boy to rhyme over. Tell me if this is posible. people have told me it is but i dont know how to do it. once im in record mode to record my own output i cant go into track mute but i could be going about it all wrong. Then with the cuts, how do i use the audio tracks to record the cuts while the beat is playing.

1st thing. You cannot record track mutes and your beats at the same time. So if you want to record track mutes and your cuts, here's what to do:

1/ Create your pattern, then copy that pattern to itself many times to extend the length (SEQ EDIT - F2 (BARS) - COPY).

2/ Then once you have this long pattern, you can now go into the track mute screen and record your track mutes from the start. The sequence will now play back your mutes.

3/ Now you can go into the audio tracks and record your cuts over the top, but remember that each audio track can only play one recording, if you want to add some more cuts on top of what you have already recorded, you will need to select another audio track.

i dont still understand how to do either of what you explained im trying to fiddle with it but im jsut bad with this type of stuff.. how do u record on top of the beat while its playing using an audio track? and how do i record my sequence using track mute??? what u told me istill dont understand, any more help would be amazing thank you and sorry im so ridiculous.

don't you know about song mode? use song mode and then convert the song to a sequence. you don't have to copy bars to extend your loop.

Yeah I know about Song mode, but the guy wants to record track mutes. So which is quicker?

1/ Copying a pattern into itself multiple times and then recording track mutes from the beginning.

or

2/ making multiple copies of the same pattern and then individually setting the track mutes for each pattern. Then going into Song mode to arrange the sequence order, and then converting to a single sequence?

no, no, no... you're misunderstanding. my comment had nothing to do with the track mutes, it just had to do with extending the sequence.

lets say you want to take Sequence01 which is 2 bars, and make it 48 bars.

1. go into song mode
2. choose Sequence01 for step 1
3. choose repeat of 24
4. convert to sequence

isn't that quicker than going into sequence edit and copying?

It's probably about the same, i wouldn't say it's any quicker:

1/ SEQ EDIT

2/ BARS (COPY)

3/ Select how many copies you want - ENTER

ok, lets start with track mute recording.

First of all, make sure you have extended your sequence. There are 2 ways of doing this as written by myself, and by Mike Feedback above. Once you have a long sequence, you can now record your track mutes. To do this as follows:

1/ Press the track mute button

2/ Prepare the tracks you want to start with by muting or un-muting each one (you are now ready to record).

3/ Press Record + Play Start to start recording from the beginning of the sequence. Now start hitting the pads to mute and un-mute the tracks on the fly as the sequence plays.

4/ When you are finished hit Stop, and then play back from the beginning to hear the track mutes play back.

I don't have time right now to explain how to record onto an audio track.

I did the copy bars and each test I did it had empty bars at the end.
am I missing the obvious?

my source seq has 4 bars

I go mode + pad13 for seq edit
choose f2 (bars)
from seq 1 (first bar 1 last bar 4)
to sq 2 (after bar 0
copies:1

then I playback seq 2 it has 6 bars.
the last two are silent.

I know in this example I could just do a "copy seq" and it would work, but I am trying to dig into each little option in order to figure this B out!

there is a small bug there. seems to always add 2 silent bars.

you can easily cut the last 2 bars though. main -> select "bars" -> press [windows]

Why am I gettin' 32 blank bars when I do (in mind) what you described?

Every new sequence has a default amount of bars. Your is set on 2bars as default.
That's why you are gettin' 6bars if you copy to "unused" sequence, because it's new.
If you want your new sequence to be 4bars as source seq,
why don't you just copy the sequence from main?
But why you should care what Bugfix's sayin'?
