Simple MIDI question...I'm sure...

Hey guys,

We just bought an MPC1K last week, set it all up, read the manual cover to cover, but I've kind of hit a wall with the MIDI sequencing...:

I layed out a beat in a new sequence, on track 1, now I go over to track 2 of the same sequence to put together a MIDI bass line to go over it, but the external module I have for the bass synth isn't playing through. I checked all the connections: MIDI out from MIDI keyboard controller>MIDI in on the MPC>MIDI out from MPC>to MIDI in on keyboard module. I consulted the manual and set all the MIDI channels on everything to 1, but still nothing. I can see on the keyboard module that it's recieving the MIDI signal from the keyboard and the MPC, but when I hit Play Start, the beat begins, but I can't hear the keys playing through as they should be.

I know it's probably not rocket science, but it's confusing the hell out of me. Can anybody help me out?

Keyboard or sound module needs to be in the multi-mode. Now I should see you post something like this..."aw thanks man, I knew it was something simple". Rather than..."what's a multi-mode"? or "what do you mean by multi-mode"? Come on now, I'm counting on ya. Make me a believer.
