Rohan question: USB/SCSI adapter, can this work?

Came across this during my never ending, unsuccessful quest for a SCSI Card Reader such as the PCD-15; a quick forum search did not return any mentions so I thought I could post it:

What are your thoughts about it, Rohan? I can't see why this shouldn't work with a 3K.

I read the company profile, they actually manufacture SCSI devices and provide "inexpensive" custom solutions (don't know what's supposed to mean). If there are enough people in this forum wanting a USB/flash storage option for their samplers we could even ask for a custom drive specifically designed for MPC3000s - I believe you have the technical knowledge to define all the specs.

Another product that Peripheral Vision make may be of use.

http://peripheral-vision.com/pdf/flash2.pdf might offer "some" from of interfacing.

IE: FLASH to SCSI

Small format converter board that allows a PCMCIA mass-storage class device to be attached to a SCSI host. When used with a suitable PCMCIA adapter, will allow SD, MMC,.XD, CF, Memory Sticks and Microdrives to appear as SCSI targets to regular SCSI hosts

As the MPC3000 is a regular SCSI host of some sort then this "might" work.

The Flash2SCSI sounds interesting. I just looked on their site; I wonder how much this would cost. I'd be willing to give this a test on an mpc60; maybe a better alternative than endlessly searching the globe for one of the microtech drives.

Well, I won't be testing out that Flash2SCSI unit mentioned above. The price is $625!!!

Anyone interested in purchasing the Flash2SCSI unit above to see if it works? I received an email and they might possibly be willing to go down in price to prove that it does in fact work with the MPC.

Can't they send it to one person for a free test? If they are so shure it will work they could sell it with a money back guarantee. USB-sticks is pretty cheap, and I would love using that instead of ZIPs. But 625$ is still a joke, and I would ratherspend that money on a SP1200.

I actually reached out to the company and they are willing to proceed with a beta test of the device to see if their emulation can work with the mpc3000 and other devices... (s760, s1000, W30... I see a comeback!!!!).

Needless to say, I volunteered myself. I recommended HD emulation for the most bang for the MB; as this would allow for good size partitions (n (i.e. > 30mb) and would be commensurate with our current relative sizing of flash media.

Curious to know if the market is sizable enough though. This company seems like a small company already serving a niche market; so the spirit to support our need may be there; but there may be issues around the expense of manufacturing the current design; which would make it harder to bring the product to market if this esoteric segment couldn't support the current price estimate of $375.
