With my MPC i record sample and then i record the drums into a sequence. then when i wanna add like a new sample in like a tamborine or more hi-hats it cuts off another sample for no reason....Ive already gone into program and MONO was off of everything and the Mute features were all off...it was just cutting things off for no reason...anybody have the same problem...cus this is really stopping me from making full beats right now...HELP please?

check if the whole pgm is set to mono, not just the samples... i'm not in front of my mpc, so i can't tell you where to look exactly. it's in old program mode and then f2 or f3, i think.

yeah, I hit that problem last night, your program is set to mono not poly.

everything is set to poly i dont understand whats goin on...

some dude on futureproducers said this...but i dont knw how much of it is true..anyways to fix this or find another alternative??

It sounds like you are dealing with a polyphony issue. Whatever your sound engine is, has a limited amount of voices of polyphony. In other words, there's a limited amount of sounds that can play at the same time.

This is the case for all MIDI synthesizers and drum machines. The limit can't be changed to anything higher, but sometimes the number can be lowered (to reduce CPU load) on VSTi's. Also, if you create MIDI layers of instruments (in a patch) then you have to consider the total polyphony count (taken for each layer in the patch).

The best way to deal with it is to split up / freeze / record the drum parts into separate overdub layers of audio, so that your drum engine isn't trying to play so much stuff all at the same time.

Try recording your drum layers onto multiple tracks and see if anything changes? Or are you already?

Youre using the JJ, so go to MODE+Other and watch the voice monitor. See if you are using a lot of voices.

just double check the program's polyphony as people have already mentioned. if you go into program mode (mode+PAD7), then go to the params screen (F3) there's a field in the upper right hand corner of the screen that says "Play". that should be set to poly as well as the "Voice Overlap" on each pad.

maybe you just made sure that the "Voice Overlap" on each pad was set to poly, but not the Program's "Play"?
