MPD24 and Logic Pro 8 Help please

Okay, since this is my first post ill give everyone the rundown. I am indeed new to the whole MIDI thing but im not new to music. i have a macbook and i got pro logic 8 along with the MPD24. i think im missing the big picture here. so far from what im getting is i need to get samples of sounds/effects i want to use and assign them to each pad? i was reading up and im not sure if im accurate with this, hopefully someone can clear this up for me, but i read that i need a router or yoke?

also, im not sure how to set up pro logic 8 to use the mpd24. it reads it in the program but does nothing as far as sound effects. (probably because none are assigned to pads) so, do i need another program to send the assigned sounds into pro logic 8?

feel free to bash me, because people like me probably get annoying for the pro's on here.

oh btw, i have installed the stuff using the cd that came with it.

I don't know anything about Logic or the MPD, but MIDI is just data. You won't have any sounds in the MPD, but you will be using the MPD to control sounds within Logic, as long as Logic supports this, which I'm sure it does, I just have never used it...

You will need to setup a midi track in logic with a drum machine instrument. Assign it to a MIDI channel like 10 and then assign the MPD to channel 10 and it should play the instrument in the software...

im trying to figure that out right now......i can just hook this up straight to the computer through USB correct?
