Good point. I emailed Nick a couple times and he got back to me really quick. So thats an indication that their service is gonna be to my liking. I still just feel like I shouldnt have to spend a dollar on Akai's mistake, but I'm sure I'll just have to get over it. At the end of the day, I just want my MP to work properly.

Nick is solid like that! He's never let me down. I've done business with him a few times already, and i'll continue to do business with him for whatever I need in the future.

So did Akai just drop interlink? There not using them on the 2500?

I'm just starting to use my 1000 that I bought in Feb 07, I just sold my mv8000. Am i trippin? . . . cause part of me wants to replace the pads before they f up. The other part of me says don't waste your money.....

They decided to cut corners and save money when they designed their own pads for the 1000. It didn't take long before they realized their mistake (though they never admitted it at the time). Then they went back with interlink for the 2500.

Though I've noticed that the pads on the 2500 dont feel much like the pads on the 2000 xl. My buddy just bought 1 and I love my MP 1k, but the pads on the 2000 xl feel so good that minus the OS, I'd rather make beats on his MP cause MAN, the pads feel sooooooooo Gooooooooddd!!!!! And I was just @ his house lastnight. Was @ Guitar Center 2 days ago and I know for a fact that they dont feel the same. the 2500 pads are harder. Do you think Interlink changed their system?

Ok. Can somebody find out if they will use interlink for the new replacements?

@ hereo - From what I've read, I beleive it may be the pad rubber that's different on the 2500, though I'm not 100% sure.

@ b.eezy - We won't know for sure until they're in stock, which may actually be in August if not July.

Ok. Well, if that's the case I hope they use the old soft rubber cause that stuff felt like heaven. I can give the pads a nice push or push them lightly with my fingers and both do the trick. I really, really hope they use the old rubber.

What about the pads on the MPD24? How do those compare? I have one of those, and I'm thinking of MIDI linking it to the 1k, but I'm curious as to whether or not those suffer from the same hard feel as the 2500.

MAN, JUST BUY new pads, if not get another mpc.

the mpc 1000 is a consumer level toy.

I replaced my mpc1000 pads, they are stronger for sure.

So I checked out a NYM video on Youtube, is he installing the replacement sensors from VST? Im still a little unsure which way to go, but I dont think I can wait any long. And the pads+sensors they have for $104, are those the same stock pads from Akai? Eh.. I need something like now.

I didn't know Nym had a pad replacement video. So I'm not sure exactly what he was installing at the time, since he's done several different replacements.

As far as the existing stock pad replacements are concerned, I recall Nym posting a while back that he ordered some, took them apart to find that it's the same design, but with a bit more glue than what was orignally used.
How long those replacements will last is something none of us can be sure about. But eventually they will fall apart.

So I'd rather wait a bit personally, even though waiting for these new "performance pads" sucks, since they were supposed to be ready about a month ago.
I'll call Nick on Monday and see what's going on. I havent heard from him in a while, so I don't know if he's really got any new info. But I gotta talk to him anyway about some other parts as well.

hey distort - can you ask him if he has any idea with regards to time frame
for the release?

t_bias - I'll definitely ask Nick if he has any new info reguarding the time frame. Hopefully it's just a slow shipment coming out of Akai, which is usually the case. I can't see any other reason for the delay.
