this is a placeholder for news about my next hardware mod project for the mpc1000, the "Evil Eye" mod. it's in pretty early stages of development, but the basic concepts are set.
this mod is deceptively simple sounding. i plan to replace qlink1 with a Sharp GP2D120 infrared sensor. the GP2D120 will be housed in an external unit and will plug into the mpc through a hole drilled just above the top "AFTER" button. the external unit will be hinged, so the GP2D120 can face either UP (for vertical movements) or horizontal (for movements left and right).
the external unit will be very portable. probably the size of a pack of cards. it won't need any external power since it will be powered by the mpc.
qlink1 control is replaced by hand movement. you could wave your hand to control a filter or any other parameter (start end? layer? the possibility is great).
this will only be a "how to" mod. i don't intend on manufacturing them and selling them. hell, i don't even know if this is going to work to begin with, let alone work to an acceptable level of usability.
