:shock: i loaded up a sample with vocals and wen i converted it an assigned them to pads the vocals went away leaving everything else has this happend to anyone else b 4 :?:

What do you mean 'the vocals went away?'

As in a layer was removed or a filter was applied?

maybe the vocals were panned hard in the original mix

chopping may have converted to mono

ya the vocals went away it was just the sample playin with the instruments and the singing part was gone no filter or anything

I think this is the case. . . especially if ur not running the JJOS (no stereo chopping on akai OS) and alot of older records have the band playing on one side and the performer singing on the other side of the stereo field.. maybe u only got channel 1 (left side) when converting to mono.

No, but if you listen to say an MP3 of the Rolling Stones you will notice how the drums are panned to the right. The MP3 probably came from a CD which featured the original recording. Did you check your original sample in stereo? Where are the vocals located? Listen with headphones.
