aight To make a long story REALLY short.. There is a bunch of knuckleheadz i run with(not to say i aint' one either but) but these foolz were out a few nights ago, come to find out they had iced out the van and they were rollin high WHILE THEY had the work in the ride... get pulled over on some buLLish(but i told them they askin for it runnin around in a pimped out ride) after they got search its a wrap...with that much WORK on them...they both facin at least 30 years now... but as SOON as i heard about it ThAT very same night I hustled my a$$ over to the SPOT.. we had started to build up a studio... and I knew the heat was gon come down HARD on all this.. so rather then let it go to waste.. I loaded UP all that i could in a quick 30 mins' NOT knowin when Jake was gon show up...and got the heLL out of a town..


word came back to me, and come to find out they raided the spot like 30 mins after i was gone and took EVERTHING!! two tritons an mpc 4000 some mixers and a gang of computers. d*(m wat a waste.. My mans and them is lookin at NOT comin home for a MAD, MAD MINUTE..

Now we come to my post.. I'm an emcee i don't know no singin ish.. but dude that made our beats is gone... so with all this stuff I now have I'ma make it it my aim to get up on top and learn all this... THE same night all this happened, I had a J-O-B interview and whatnot and I'm pretty sure I'm gon get the job so I'm on the straight and narrow no more dirt...

I been readin this site for a quick lil minute but I just need some help and info on where to begin,, i'm mad lost...

I want to make my own beats and LEARN all this... basically on some SAMPLE based production... like necro, stoupe, nothing crazy commercial JUS iLL a$$ dope beats!!

Yeah, for realz, lol.

I would have grabbed the 4000 first too, but great score... you'll be better off doing beats than doing dirt anyway, so mad props on that.

Just be dedicated for the first year to doing nothing but learning your new (free) gear, and the rest will be history.

dude why would u take the 1k and not the 4k. anyway for some basic stuff I would suggest starting with reason so you can get a feel on how stuff is place and how to get an idea on layn sh down. good luck and welcome to our world

Great haul! You can really start to get busy now.

Some advice maybe...I'd start with hooking up your macbook, monitors, turntable(s) and mpc so you can start sampling with either the mpc or with the macbook. You stated you got turntables. Did you also get a dj mixer?

Start with one thing (either software or hardware) and learn that before incorporating something else into your beatmaking. Personally I'd start out with either the macbook or the mpc to make beats. All depends at what point you're at with making beats ofcourse.

Try to figure out what kinda beats you wanna make and what the best piece of gear is at your disposal to get the job done.

As already stated, Tweakheadz is a very nice site. It's pretty vast but start with the basics. Do some research about your gear and how to hook it up there if you don't know how already. Take it one step at a time.

aight I apreciate all the feedback positive or NEGATIVE... yall gotta know tho... I was on foot i aint' have a car or nothing, shoot I'm jus glad we still had the box the 27" tv came in.. PLUS i had no idea when jake was gon rush the spot so I was operatin on borrowed time here.. so I thru EVERYTHING and as much as i could into the box and get THE HELL outta town.. yeah I looked at the mpc 4000 and the triton but they was to big and too many cables to disconnect on that end feel me? plus no way i could get that home quick and easy...not in that box and NOT w/o a ride or something.. it was d*m hard draggin that box home as it was.. that triton and mpc was big.. so I had to leave them go... I just wish i had thought to get more cables. cuz now i'm short on them sh*tz..


an HOW is that lootin when its some of my $$ that went into all this.. i mean shoot NOTHING like them players, but i'm sayin a benjamin here and there when i could...them dudes is NOT gonna see the light for a few.. but TRUST me THEY WOULD RATHER ME get this then LET it go to waste..


I'm not afraid of ANYTHING gettin pinned on me..TRUST me i got all my ish/tracks covered.. shoot thats why I made sure we kept reciepts and paid cash...BUT Im' new to this computer world and never really thought of jake comin up on here..


but check it.. I ain't even got internet at home like that.. so ALL this i do online i be doing from the public library so i can't see how they gon come AT that level right? well either way the public library only allows 1 hour sessions p/day so its not like i can be on here mad time...

You are doin' the right thing by staying clean... One of the saddest things is to watch your friends have the best years of their lives taken away while you get away clean and visit them in jail... I know the feeling.


Now maybe it's just me, but I think you might have too much gear to wrap your head around for a while. Here is my advice since you are an emcee.

Sit down with that 1000, learn how to make some simple beats, and go to town. The rest will follow. Keep it simple for now man..... it's easy to lose your drive and motivation learning new gear.
