to make it easy,do your speakers have a power switch on the back? If so, that means they are active and you do not need to amp them. If they do not, then they need another source of power(passive speakers), thats where the amplifier comes in.

Since you already have speakers how do you run them now? Through a home stereo? If so then just run your mpc main outs into the CD jack of the stereo. Or through the audio input in the back of your computer.

Also I would go for a MPC 2000XL
