Need Suggestions on a Synth!

Wudup!

I am think about getting a synth to go with my mpc2000xl.

I was thinking about a used "triton LE 61"(without sampling board) or a

"Proteus 2000 rack" or a "jv1080 rack".

but if i get a rack, i'll have to get a midi controller keyboard, right?

but what are those "pc usb midi keyboards" like the Roland PC-300??

Are they the same as the normal midi keyboards? what's different?

Any Suggestions???

I have a Korg Ms2000r which is off the chain, and got a MIDI Man Radium Controller. That USB/Midi siht is cool but you need real low latency (which I aint got) to really enjoy it

A USB controller keyboard and a Midi controller keyboard are pretty much the same thing. The difference is that the USB keyboard uses USB directly into your computer to send midi notes. The average midi controller keyboard needs a midi interface to speak to your computer. Another diff.... you could connect the Midi controller keyboard to the MPC midi in and play your MPC's sounds. if the USB controller doesn't have a midi in or output, you couldn't do the same with it.

In terms of what you should buy, I suggest that you consider your budget and let the money help you decide.

not knowing what you mean by 'synth' its hard to give an opinion, im using a nord lead 3 for phatt analog synth mania, but i've also got an E-mu XL-7 w/ the mo' phatt expansion, as well as a triton 88 le...

I would stay away from the triton le 61, as i've found the best part of the the le 88 is the wieghted keys and the 32mb stereo grand, plus a couple of nice organ/wurli/rhodes sounds. which the 61 or 76 wont have!!
its good for real sounds(without using a sampler), but if you want phatt electronic synth sounds get yourself a NL2 or a novation k-station which would be good for what you want, small midi controller and a synth....only prob its only 1 part so maybe its not that good<----thinking out loud!!!
maybe try a MS2000...

If your after nu skool r'n'b synth and drum sounds go for the mp-7 or the mo phatt rack module.
So thats probably confused you..... just my spin on things
Best bet would be to go to your local music store an have a bash.

the ms2000r is really nice for the price. i got one for $300 on ebay. i had a novation and they are mega but you need to know how to program a synth to use a novation for hip hop. all the presets are techno or trance. novation sounds great though. for hte money i don't think you can beat a ms2000r. check the studio pictures thread on this site there are a lot of studios w/ the ms2000r so it might mean something....
