Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

First of all, what up everybody? Glad to be a part of this website and have access to all of the knowledge that's shared here. Hopefully I can share what I know and help another cat out.

My question..

I use my 2000xl w/a Roland XV-5080 sound module,the ASR-10 and Cakewalk Pro5.

I play out everything using the ASR to trigger the sounds from the 5080 and Pro 5,then I sample what I played and sequenced on the ASR into the MPC and chop / filter/ re-sequence everything from there. I like for a little air to be in the samples, but if I were to place a noise reduction device in the signal chain between my mixer's main out, and the sample input on the MP, would my samples be more free of background noise?

I sample with sample input and volume turned off on the MPC, and it works well. If I can shoot for better sound quality though, I will.
