I got a good reason for you to get the MV. Cop it, use it to death, and let us all know what the real deal with it is. Post some tracks made with it so we can check it out. If you don't like the piece then take it back in time to get your $ back!
I think future producers is to blame for all this MV talk. Roland must be given them big $$$$ for the advertising.

You know, I own both an MPC2kxl and an MV-8000. Which do I like more? Depends on what Im using it for. Each has its thing going for it as well as shortcomings. For a newbie, you can't go wrong with an MPC. It's easy to learn. The MV8k is being wrongly marketed as a machine that can do it all in one. It can do a lot on its own, but it has a steep learning curve. Steep. It's complicated. The thing it has going for it is that it doesnt have as many bugs and it's very stable. Someone made a comment about the pads being inferior, and that's hogwash. Theyre both rugged. But for a newbie, prepare to invest a lot of time in learning to use the machine. It's more on par with an mpc4k. An MPC1k or MPC2kxl might be more suited for someone who's never picked up a drum machine type sampler/sequencer. It's not really what equipment you use, but what you can do with it.
