sometimes...my chops don't come out smooth....... what margin value do you guys use...when going into the zone menu to slice your sample.....i know the default is 30.....
.
.
.
lets say i chop a two bar sample into 4 equal pieces.....and i program it into the sequencer...from chop to chop there's small ass gap...
.
i go to the decay in the program screen and put it to zero...for all the chops.... it helps a little... but there's still a gap... its hardly noticeable to the untrained ear... plus its clearly visiable when i record it to adobe audition... when i mute everything just to see how the sample flows...

Normally if I kick the tempo up a little so the chops slightly overlap, it hides the gaps. Like if I chop a 90.5 bpm loop up, i'll set the tempo of the sequence that i'm using the chops in to 91-92 bpms. You could also try to cover up the gaps with your drums.

I think gaps can sound good sometimes though, depending on the overall feel of your beat...

^^^ listen to him.

i do this too. just raise the bpms by half or 1 or even 2 depending. smoothness.

I always chop everything manually, you can get it just the way you want it. Takes more time but that's the way I like to do it..

the margin value is how much decay is added to ur chops.
0=No decay at all.
100=MAxium Decay.

For different samples that u zone will have diff decays. Just play around wit it. I use like 5 or 6 margin value on drums lately, but i scew wit it all the time

Yeah but has any one noticed what this guy is talking about? It's mad annoying, the pads put a little decay on the chops even if you set the decay to zero...

hey guys, saw an old scohol interview with shadow a while ago and he was saying something about assigning 'air' to one of the pads, so like the end reverb decay of a snare, or just like a quiet spot from the break.
he then flys it in with the slider to make the beats flow better and take away that choppy sound.......
dunno if this will help....
