chopping with the 2000xl is easier.

i had a 2000xl for 6 years before switching to the 2500 a year ago. it's easier with the 2000xl.

akai screwed up when they didn't bring back velocity sensitive adjustment of end points.

jj screwed up when instead of just adding velocity sensitive adjustment of end points, they made it so that you had to zoom in to fine adjust end points.

velocity sensitive adjustment of end points is 100 times quicker than the shift+cursor method that the akai OS has, and the zoom in method that the JJ OS has.

it's not even an argument.

you can stick by your conclusion, but what's the basis for it? is it an assumption rather than a conclusion or is there reasoning behind it?

well, we both know i think that there isn't a "FASTEST SOLUTION" because this is all muscle memory - like typing on a keyboard or cell phone.

i have since owning the 1000 chopped on a 2000xl and on a 2000 (and old os's of the 1000). my hands remember the 1000's chopping because i've done it a million times. i've determined the way that takes the least click strokes to get the most accurate results.

so it's not like i KNOW ITS FASTER because my muscle memory isn't trained for the 2000xl like it is for the 1000. BUT it's my feeling from observing the user details of the code. a "Strong Hunch."

i see. well, that's where you were kinda losing me, because the 2000xl actually takes less keystrokes to chop samples because you don't have to press any buttons to change the amount of steps that the end points take when you spin the data wheel. you just have to spin the data wheel fast to move in large steps, and slow to move in small steps. the amount of steps the end points move are proportional to how fast you're spinning the data wheel.

chopping in the 2000xl and the 1000/2500 are essentially the same except...

the akai OS adds the the shift+cursor keystrokes.

the JJ OS removes accuracy from end point adjustment when zoomed out and then also adds the zoom keystrokes.

Buy both...
...and be ultra cool [like me] by controlling the 2000xl via midi from the 1000JJOS. Thats how to become a real rock-star!! (although chopping is still the same on the 2000xl (get a card reader drive to save sanity).

Oh yeah, and I can flip a pancake while flipping a beat on the 1000jj, so I think it is much easier.

Whatup NYM? whats good on that optical sensor, ordered it up yet?
