How long is the sample?

When you say you have 48MB left do you mean on your CF card or in your RAM?

The CF card is only used for saving, loaded samples are stored in the RAM which is completely different than the CF memory.

The way it goes, a .wav file is about 10MB per minute in stereo. Half that for a mono sample.

If you only have the stock 16MB of ram, then you only have about 1.6minutes of stereo sample-time. IF you are trying to chop a very large sample then you need to upgrade your RAM (not your CF card) or work with smaller samples.

the sample is 30 seconds long, and yes i have the stock memory which means i prolly should get it upgraded, should of none that it wouldn't be fully functional out the box..

it is 100% totally functional out of the box. use a shorter sample

or don't autoload the presets and that will also save some memory

Do you have anything set to autoload? 10megs of .wav is roughly about 1 minute long stereo so it seems like you should have more than 36 seconds

With 128MB RAM you get just about 12 minutes

If it's "out of the box" as in new you should just take advantage of the offer Akai has for a free EXM 128 ram chip. It's a mail in thing so in about 12 weeks or so you will recieve a free ram card. Sucks to have to wait but it sure beats spending another $150-$200 dollars on it.

The memory chip should be viewed as an essential upgrade. Even more so than the JJ OS!

Relax, and enjoy. You own an MPC.
