Hey cnote, how far did you get in grade school bud? I tried to decipher what you're trying to say. I made out some of it like accidently wiping out the volume, and you trying to re-install some samples. Unless you still have the stock disk or some kind of specialty disk, you might be up sh!tz creek (sorta).

what i was saying is when i tried to reformat my mpc4000 instead of selection full format i clicked on and now the samples dont play and i play the cd in my laptop and it works but they wont play on my mpc, think i deleted the volume and i dnt know how to get it back. its the sample cd the mpc came with . i mean i can play some drum patters from the other cd, but if you got any knowledge of how i can get my sounds back let me know. or will i have to buy a new sample cd? cus i guess it wont recongnize those samples cus of that mistake i did hit wipe volume. well if u know how to get the sounds let me know.
get at me

The CD that came with your mpc should be alright cuz it not an CDR or CDRW just a CD ROM. All you need to do it go to select cd in the load screen and press load multi and or all sequence if you wish and you should be fine.

Your writing was much clearer the second time by the way.

ok

well i did that 5 times already it loads them to my mpc4000 , and it loads them but it dont play the sounds, and i played the demo and it only plays the drum loops. i mean i had the sounds last night they was playing fine i made a beat. but u know when u go to load and then to utility, well it gots wipe volume, then quick format and full format, well i wanted full format but i clicked on wipe volume so i think it wiped the volume to them samples on the cd so thats why i think its not playin them, an di put the other cd with only drums and it plays those but thats only a few drums, no instruments so i cant do no melodys, i keep installing it and it dont play the samples and i know it got sto do with the mpc4000 cus it plays the samples on my computer, i just need to know how i can get the volume back or if them sounds are wiped from my mpc4000 for good or if i need new samples?
well get at me
and i made it to the 12th grade i was **** up maybe thats why i didnt make sense the first time,
well holla back.
u got myspace?

The CD volume is set for keygroup programs for one and two the CD usually loads as INT A or B.

I suggest you go to main page and assign all the OUT1 to Parts not INT A and then assign the parts to a program. Then the sounds should play out as you wish. The CD sequence was programmed with all keygroup programs not drum programs which might be the confusion.

Remember the sounds have to be assigned to a program to play. And the programs have to be assigned to a part.

Remember to load MULTI as this loads all the sounds and programs. Seems too it is time to break out the manual.

You are correct you have erased your disk and you are right again you CAN`T GET it BACK. You have to reinstall the sounds like I said before if you have the CD. If you don`t have the CD you are shit out of luck unless you ask your Akai rep or the store you got it from to send you a Aksys CD.

This make my point clear.

Wipe Volume erases your MPC internal hard drive and any recordable CDs, Zip Disks, and Memory Sticks you have attached to your 4k.

Wipe Volume will not erase the Aksys CD that comes with your 4k, as it isn`t a recordable CD, it is a Rom CD with sounds, programs, Multis and so on.

Even if you hit wipe volume on the Aksys CD it shouldn`t harm it. But your internal hard drive memory is now as clean as a whistle.

Reinstall.

Alright take the (Akai CD-ROM Sound Library CD) this is the one named (S6000 Vol 1) and put it in your CD drive.

Next go to Load page look at the top and you will see Disk scroll to select S6000 Vol 1 and hit select.

Then select the folder of sounds like Strings press do it. A screen comes up asking Load (multi+Programs+Samp+Seqs) Select the clear button and do it.

Now if you want to load in the other sounds DON`T PRESS CLEAR just load in the (programs with sounds) let off the Multi sense you already have one Multi loaded.

Now hit the main page and assign the programs to the parts to play.

I just went step by step with my own 4k and it is working fine.

Wipe Volume Hellll NAAA!!!!! Reinstalled my Akai Sounds yes. But after that you save to save it to your HD as Autoload or whatever.

If you use Aksys you can just create a folder on you Hd from the computer and then save it without going to the MPC Ram memory process I stated before but it seems you don`t have Aksys set up yet?

Be patient it is most likely some small mistake you made (GOOD Learning Lesson) in a positive way.
