white noise

ok i use a numark PT01 Portable Turntable, and i keep getting white noise whenever i record a sample or when i put the input thru on, at first i thought it might have been the cables connecting my mp and the truntable, but it's not. Is there anyone who has this problem and how do i get rid of it???

Is your table earthed?

are you using a phono preamp?

yeah man, if youre not using a preamp/mixer, the mpc isnt gonna be able to take it. which is kindof a **** but at least they didnt put some awful preamp in there.

i dunno i jus hook up the truntable to the mp

Doesn't the PT-01 have a phono preamp with Line level output?

Some turntables have a built in preamp to bring the output up to line level but MOST turntables require a DJ mixer or a preamp before putting the signal into the MPC.

i think it does, because the sounds come out really strong its jus the white noise that keeps bothering me

im not using a mixer at all, its jus the turntable hooked str8 to the mpc

Your numark PT01 has a line-level output which means you don't need a mixer.
Maybe the line-level output is screwed?!
Try pluging it straight into your computer or something else to check.

HOLD ON... you're not plugging it into the s/pdif ins are you? That will definitely result in white noise sheeet....
