Motif ES has the best sounds out of the big three (Motif, Triton, Fantom). I demoed the Extreme and the sounds are a bit "thin", compared to the Motif. The Fantom and Triton are dope, no doubt, but as far as quality of sounds go, the ES takes it. Period.

Try them for yourself at Guitar Center, you'll see...

what about the motif rack ????
are the sounds the same or is there a big difference between the rack and the motif ES series ??

The Mo rack doesn't have a lot of the sounds that the ES does but I think it still has better natural sounding strings, basses and guitars then the Triton. As far as the piano, the Fantom X gets my vote. For the type of sounds you're looking for I'd say the ES is what you want, the Fantom X also has some pretty decent "acoustic" sounds but the Triton, in my opinion, wouldn't give you the sounds you're looking for.

I would go wit the Motif ES6 fo sho! I LOVE my Motif ES6! Havent demo'd the Fantom-X6 yet but will later this month. I demo'd the Triton Extreme its nice if u alwayz wanted a Triton the Extreme is the Triton to cop but for acoustic realistic sounds I would go wit the Motif ES6 so far! I will let cha kno what's real wit the Fantom-X when I demo it!

The piano on the fantom x is un freakin beleivible. I think it has four different samples for different velocities per note. you cant get more realistic than that.

the triton studio is really old news and on top of the that the new triton is fully load with all the rom boards that gives it around 160 mb of sample rom while the triton studio only has 48 mb and to get the fully 160mb of rom you would still have to spend over 1000 with the exp-boards so as far as price go youll get more for your money if you buiy the triton ex. me i love my motif es.

I can't think of anything that would make getting the Mo rack a bad idea, unless of course Yamaha plans on introducing a new ES rack this summer and they drop the price, I doubt it though, I think we would have seen a price drop already. The racks are going for 750-900 used but I wouldn't be surprised if you could get a deal on one from one of the major retailers seeing as how the Fantom X rack just came out. I'd also check out http://www.riksmusic.com they have the lowest prices I've seen on a lot of gear.

^^^ co-sign that...the motif ES is amazing, in it's sounds and in it's simplicity of use plus you can use it as a midi-controller <which i'm assuming you can do wih most major keyboards nowadays>...goto a guitar center and play with it man, you'll be hooked <does anyone miss MARS MUSIC?>
