Have a 1k may be ble to score a 2xl...should I bother?

I currently have a 1k, but may be able to get my hands on a 2xl WITHOUT having to get rid of the 1k if I don't want to. I could basically have both machines. One that stays in the lab, and one that goes with me wherever, which is good cause I'm going to be on the road a lot in the next little while.

Anyways, I'm wondering if it will be worth having both machines even NOT considering what I just mentioned about having the 2xl permanent in the lab and the 1k with me on the go?

I do have the JJ OS on the 1k, so would 2xl provide me any clear advantages over the 1k? Maybe feel or sound wise? I have never really got to mess with a 2xl and put my own sounds on it, etc. so I really don't know.

Anyone out there have or had both the 1k and 2xl and can give me some input?

Basically I have a lady in my life that really wants to spoil me and is considering getting me a 2xl....just cause I've been talking about it . Since I do care about her a lot...I don't want her to waste her money on it, especially if it isn't going to provide me with any clear advantage over what I already have. It would basically be a Christmas/BDay gift.

She initially wanted to cop me Logic Pro upgrade. Should I sway her more to the 2xl or the LP upgrade? If she buys me a 2xl I"m not going to sell it either...it would be a slap in the face to her...and I want to keep this chick around. So any thoughts or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

I got both.

The 2000xl is much more comfortable to have in the studio as a workhorse. It's bigger, more durable, and with a card reader upgrade, can really do a lot. however, the JJOS on the 1000 is unbelievable as well... both are good machines. I would definitely get the MPC over the upgrade, upgrades in my experience slow you down because you are re-learning shit you already know how to do...

However, I'm mainly concerned of the difference in sound character between the two machines. If you were to load the same samples and basically make the same beat, what would the differences be? Would the 2xl have a little more natural timing, better sound, better anything?

2kxl sounds exactly the same on output as input in my opinion.

1000 sounds a little more "clean".

Actually, no I don't. I know someone with a 60 and someone else with a 4k. I've owned a 4k for almost a year a couple of years ago, so I know exactly what that's like. The 2xl is just something I haven't really been able to get my hands on except for a way overpriced used one in a store.
