It's more on par with an mpc4k. An MPC1k or MPC2kxl might be more suited for someone who's never picked up a drum machine type sampler/sequencer. It's not really what equipment you use, but what you can do with it.

I know this board is partial to AKAI. Everyone here is in their user base, but the point is that you can make magic regardless of whether the AKAI badge is on your equipment or not.

Yes. But the MV is a peice of pooh. Who wants a machine that thinks its a whole studio, I don't. Its not the fact that its not an Akai, It's the fact that they stuff to much into one machine. Not that it doesnt work, it does, but who the f would use it for the whole production proccess like they pitch it as. Im happy with my xl. done.
