first off i would like to say, ive read this part of the manual multiple times and used the search function. im sorry if this is a retarded question but i just dont get it.

so im at ch15 Save/Load. so i start of pressin MODE then Pad 2 for the LOAD option, thats easy. but when i get to the load screen i cannot choose the hard disk option from the 'LOAD from' field. thats not that imortant but im just wonerin why that is (i have the 128ram upgrade fwiw)

then i get to the the line below that and in my manual theres an image that shows "AUTOLOAD" but no matter what field i change it only shows the "ROOT" option.

so w/e, i cant figure that out so i just load my song so i can chop it up, but when i try and do that and hit load with one of the function keys, nothin happens. also, i cannot play this song with the function keys. its an mp3 and i dragged it from itunes into my little MPC icon on my desktop. i know its kinda stupid to do it like this but all i have is a USB cord, no turntable (its on the way) and no cd player. why wont it let me just load the song onto the mpc and just chop what i want? is there any way for me to get samples onto my mpc with a usb cord and a computer?

sorry, i know this is basic shit, but help is appreciated

Well if you dont have a hard drive then that would be the first problem, The ram upgrade is more of a temporary storage device. And for mp3s, the mpc 1000 can only use wav files. So get audacity and convert your mp3s to wav and transfer them from there.

when you're in the load menu, and you have the "load from" area highlighted (remember you can use your cursor keys or whatever they're called to move around the screen.), use your scroll wheel to scroll from "hard disk" to "CF card" or whatever thats called.

you get my point i'm sure. i wish i knew the correct terms for everything but i don't have to explain myself when i use it haha.

aight cool, so hard drive isnt really necessary right? i mean i got a 2 gig flash card so that'll take a while to fill right?

also, as for the ROOT problem. it says that the ROOT is the highest, most general file. and thats the only one i have, how to i get/create the option to switch to AUTOLOAD like it shows on the manual?

thanks for the help so far. definately lookin into audacity.

i guess i don't understand the question. but if you look up autoload in the manual i bet it'll take you to what you're looking for.

Create an AUTOLOAD folder.
