Can I use output expander from other Akai samplers

I see some Akai samplers (3000/3000cdi/s2000 etc) for sale with included output expanders and FX boards. One in particular is less than 100 pounds.

If I bought one of those rack samplers can I useAre any of thesxpansion bitswith an MPC2000xl?

i have seen and heard of it being done with multiple s series samplers but i know there is modifactions that need to be made. I remember one being really easy but i dont recall exactly and dont wanna lead you blindly. It has been discussed here before so if no one responds try searching. If the mod is easy i might be looking into to getting the 8 outs for my xl as well.

Tthats a shame because if they were then there would be some real bargains to be had. Often expansion cards are interchangeable between models but I guess not in this case.

I've heard of there being an issue with 8 out expanders. The XL version has a smaller cable so it's harder to put it in a 2k classic. I suspect the FX cards are the same though...

I just transferred an 8-out board from an S2000 to an MPC2000XL. It works fine. The only issues are mechanical ones.

The mounting plate from the S2000 does not fit into the 2KXL, but you can also fix it directly on the 1/4" jacks if you have the right screw nut. Try your local radio shack.

Also the connection cable to the CPU board might be too short, it is the right type but too short. Try a common floppy drive cable from your home computer store. I just took the one from the MPC floppy as I replaced it with a ZIP drive.

With the effects card there's no problem at all, just plug it in and enjoy, no cables or anything. The EB-16 fits in the S2000, S3000XL and MPC2000XL.

I can't say anything concerning the 2000 classic, but I assume it works just as fine.

The one from the s2000 will work wit both the 2k and 2kxl, but you need to be comfortable drilling 2 fresh whole in the rear of the mpc.

Ive done it a few times myself for other cats......

The s2000 goes for the price of the card solo, so....tear it out and either flip the s2000, or rock it in a stylee.....
