sup guys back agin got 2 questions for now

is the timestretch in jj os different than the one in akai os2.11 sound wise?

is there still a step editor in jj os2.11, not the piano roll just the step editor?

im asking cause i done all i can for akai os 2.11 and i hope my voice was heard to akais ear..im gonna make the switch after 2 years of using akai os im finally done .. im not buying jj tonight prolly next week i have off..ohh and importance is there a stable version of jj os? i wanna make tracks now..akai os2.11 is to unstable to really get serious with it

ive been busy testing out the akai os 2.11 for bug reports to akai..im asking u guys the ones who have done the same for jj on reporrting bugs if the unofficial os is stable..example would u jump on one burning boat to another with more people on it?

the timestretch in akai os2.11 is broken.. it works to a degree just not fully.. i dont know if u ever used the akai os2.11 but if u did u would know the importance of these questions..timestretch i never use nor do i use exclusive data in stepeditor. i only used it for bug testing..ya an audio example would be great for timestretch between both operating systems

im done bug reporting im in the mood to use my mpc on projects now but this requires a working bug free system one that doesnt freeze or halt at the trim screen after 1hour of playing with samples..i need somthin that doesnt ruin an entire track when i move events. i need a system that doesnt speed down performance with 12voices running and midi info sending back to a synth. i need a system that doesnt break window mode on trim/loop to the tune menu. i need alot of working things and does the jj os work?

cause from ur bug reports looks like u guys have more bugs than the 2.11.. backwards compatibility is my next question..if say u made a project on an earlier jj os and upgrade to a new jj update does ur projects still work the same.. how bout them qlink sliders? on 2.11 the qlink info shifts it time to another portion of a sequence when u save and then reopen the track..the qlink info is **** on 2.11..

u damn right im a cautious consumer needing ur info to make the best purchase of a 1g+ machine (mpc1000)

another question does song mode work in jj os when u go from one tempo to another? in 2.11 its broken..anotehr question does the loop feature in jj os bleed to other sounds in ur banks when u have tight loops or have an attack on a sample really high?

shit I wish I could help you out man, i'm just doing very minimal compositions with the 1000, but it sounds like we could probably use your help even more than you could use ours, I can tell you that jj has been very responsive to bug reports and that if you decide to pick up the os you are definitely welcome to help balance out the bull$hit over this way. hopefully some of the other cats like yourself will chime in and give you the
info you need to make the decision.

peace

bugs are kinda gone now in JJ.. he still makes updates on bugs though.. i think i got a bug one time with in the mixer mode.. never got anything else..

song mode with tempo change works in song mode..

loop function works fine

just test the jj os, it'll cost you

i hope u understand my position on this. and yes i own an mpc1000 been using it now for 2 years. most of u guys have never used ur mpc1000 to the fullest..alot of u cats are rompler users with minimal sampling use and never resample..many of u dont even use the step editor in mpc1000 witch blows my mind.. im asking the help of an experienced full blown akai samplist to come out with some answers not some half fast user who never scraped the surface of an mpc1000... like i am to the 2.11 os i use it to the max i want a max user from the jj side to come out of the closet..

Just make a questions list with numbers in front of it with what you wanna know about the jj os and don't post post bs like you would know how other ppl use their mpc..

Speaking of using things to the fullest, I'm not certian that you finished your education when it came to getting a good command of the English language.

Honestly, if you haven't gotten JJOS and you have owned your 1k for 2 years, you are a dumbazz.

I don't know why you are being an idiot about this whole 'max user' thing. I paid off my 1k after selling 3 beats, and I barely had scratched the surface of the machine. To me, knowing a machine inside and out doesn't really make you a good music maker, it just makes you a snob who thinks he's better than everybody else.

Try the free JJOS, it won't hurt your machine at all, and you can reinstall the AKAI OS if you want to afterwards (though I doubt you will).

i never went to school and when i did it was to get a diploma

how am i a dumbass for spending a wad of cash on somthing that doesnt work in witch ill have to revert to third party to rely on? think about that one for a hot min! plus im doing akai a favor by reporting bugs in the years i dedicated myself to there machine they built for me and u..i dont know about u but i like the the concept of the mpc series and i dislike it when its not working, for it i make the best of my time by learning my gear and reporting anything i find unusual.. its the backbone of a community not me bein selfish. selfish is me going third party and not supporting my product..see i like to see an mpc in the future, i like the idea of samplers still being around by the great concept makers of akai when im 70. akai suffers without my findings..would there be a jj os if no one sent bug reports? think about that one for a hot min.

u sold three beats well good for u want a cookie for ego and effort to sell them fresh beats?? u didnt scratch the surface of an mpc then u gotta be good wow can i see ur myspace or youtube page? j/k i dont need to see ur sucess to beleive u that ur happy with what u make. u own an mpc and are registerd on these boards thast good enough for me to know ur comfortable with what tools are present...

i know guys who dont know the inside and outs of a drum stick and the newton laws of physics that needs to be applied on the handling of beer keg they still make good gogo and the above shit is irrelavant to them... im not trashing users who dont know there machine shit look at lil john who moneys off of simplicity synth hop ...im not here to pick a fight with u dawg..and u misunderstood me on the max user.. heres a tree of knowledge comiing ur way..

i rather ask the bug question to those experienced with an mpc rather than a noobie who has no knowledge of bugs im talking about...an mpc1000 is an all in one unit and most users dont use the all in one unit they use a small fraction of it..i bought an mpc so i can make stuff on the go when i leave town..and so far the mpc1000 with akai 2.11 cant do that only by luck it can work 45% of the time..witch is no good

akai os can do the same as the jj os difference is automation vs manual control plus a new gui vs generic gui..there are some new features on jj i will give them that and the usb auto unmount is sexy vs manual unmounts unplug and pray... ur paying money for a bug fix akai gives u a freebie..im not dumb just thoughtful and bitter. like i said im retiring from akai os and i done all i can for them until the next update right now i just need a working os cause i wanna make some tracks and finish this project for a group.

im betting jj never fixed the pp bug u cant change tempo cause he took out the menu to do so..let me put on 3.0 and see

By ejectorset Thu Oct 04, 2007 9:45 pm
what pp bug naugle?

anyways, i use the JJ OS, just the free version for now. i know the 1000 and 2000 inside out. i make full use of the os and have been using mpcs since 1999. i also have used max/msp (haven't bought it yet, just did the trial a few times), own and use bidule, learning some super-collider right now and write programs in ruby and actionscript.

so if there is some specific questions you have, i can tell you at least what 3.06 or whatever the latest free version can do.

one thing to be wary of with the JJ OS is that some things you think it can't do because it has a modified interface are still there, just under "open window" or maybe even moved to a more useful screen.

ya just as i thought the pp tempo change screen is gone.. its the same window that jj replaced it with witch only lets u tune the pp and samples..

in akai os2.1 in trim after u added ur splce markers and co0nverted to pp and then window by sample name u should see a tempo change option. in jj os it isnt there and i cant seem to find it anywhere else on jj.

By ejectorset Thu Oct 04, 2007 10:55 pm
i'll check it out when i get home, but what do you use tempo change on the patched phrase screen for exactly??

isn't the point of a patched phrase that it is going to play to the master tempo's bpm?

is it something that has to do with moving/correcting the slice markers for the patched phrase or does it actually do something?

if you have a patched phrase with 8 slices those 8 slices are going to be at the same exact locations (down to sample level) wether or not it's original tempo was 85bpm or 120bpm right?
