Reason and mpc (not a how to connect them)

First off, this isnt a question on how to connect them. Second of all, i have searched for my question and all ive seen was how to connect them.

K, well, ive been messing with reason lately and found how easy it is for me to just create beats compared to just using an mpc (just an mpc, no programs, no turn tables). I was just wondering how does the mpc work along with reason. Ive seen vids on youtube and the tutorial on how to connect them, but i want to know what is doing what. Im assuming that reason is the sound module that is activated by the midi keyboard and everything is recorded into the mpc.

I only ask because i want to get reason but do not want to feel as if i wasted some 1500 dollars on something i couldve gotten for 200 dollars (like a trigger finger). i want to actively use the mpc as far as beats go but also have the simplicity of reason.

now if this question has been asked, sorry, but i got tired of seeing the same how to connect mpc xxxx to reason/pro tools/etc and wanted a nice simple answer.

do you NEED a midi controller to connect the 2?

u want to record out of reason into the MPC? or you want ot use the MPC as a midi controll, ur question is all over the place lol

Im all good now. Over the weekend, I got reason 3 (i know theres 4 but meh), an oxygen 61 keyboard, and a lexicon lambda recording studio interface. From reading the tutorials here, i was able to set up the stuff easily. I made a beat using all reason sounds into the mpc and just saved the file as midi, imported it into reason, and exported as a wav file. Pretty cool. Only thing Im worried about now is how to combine the midi files and the mpc files (SEQ.) and keep them together. I read in the manual that you can only save one: either save a SEQ file and lose the midi data or vice versa. So I think this might be a bit of a problem if I wanna set up some sample sequence in the mpc and use a nice bassline from reason. I think tho that this is where rewiring comes in. I rewire reason into a recording program (in my case itll be the free cubebase i got) and have a line in from the mpc into the laptop and record each track down. Am I right in assuming thats how itll work? Is there any other way some of you guys use?

Anyways, Im pretty content. Reason will always be the back burner and the MPC will be my main device (like i said, i dont want to feel like i wasted over a grand in somehting that couldve cost me over a hundred. I want to use the mpc to its potential). So yea. I can still use the midi keyboard just with the mpc since i dl some instrument packs from mpc-sample.com back when i wanted to add instruments. I dont regret getting anything.

As far as the midi controller question, no you do not need it. What you need is a midi interface. The midi interface will connect your mpc to your lap/desk top. The midi controller will need a midi interface to connect to your laptop too if it isnt a usb type controller, but not to the mpc. The midi controller is more of a device to help you play notes better, be it an mpc/pad bank for the drums or a midi keyboard to play instruments so you can play it as if you were playing a piano instead of a computer keyboard or mouse.
